1952 Dodge Coronet

Personally, I think if you're going to lower the front too, you need to rock it withOUT the hubcaps. I think it would look weird to leave them on if you're going towards the rat rod look. The black steelies with huge whitewalls are :pimp:

If you're staying with the wide whites I'd keep the hubcaps, or look for something like a baby moon. But I've always liked the little hubcaps on steel wheels for post war era cars. And the stone guards are cool.

New carpeting should be here pretty soon. I went with dark grey from JC Whitney. We will see how good it actually is. This Saturday I hope to get the title transferred and get license plates so that I can actually drive it next week (if the weather is any good)

Wide whites are definitely staying. I like steelies with Moon spider caps. But I will probably stick with the full caps for now

Well got the title switched over and had insurance put on the car a few weeks ago. Been driving the car once or twice a week since. Longest trip so far was to my brothers house (about 25miles one way) Car developed a rough idle and even died on me two blocks from my house last week. It was dark and I couldn't see what I was doing. A buddy of mine came over and helped me push the car back home. I had to use my m1009 and a tow strap to get the car up the driveway. I'm sure my neighbor loved seeing me drive my m1009 across our front lawn at 9pm lol.

Next morning I found that a wire had popped off the back of the carb. Not exactly sure what it does, but the PO gave me an extra carb which, thankfully, had the necessary clip to hold the wire in place. Cleaned out the idle circuit in the carb and cleaned out the fuel filter. I also added a second in-line fuel filter. Now the car seems to be running much better. I hope to take it to work on Friday. If it runs good, I will be taking it to the Jefferson Wisconsin car show/swap meet this Saturday (about a 2 hour drive) where I will search for some parts for the car.

Oh and I did get the carpet installed. Not thoroughly impressed with it, but it's an improvement from what it had before

Nice
That's one heck of a test drive, 2 hours. Hope she proves herself :D Make sure and treat us with some show pics and plenty of updated ones of the car :waytogo:

What's the dash and upper door panel trim made of? That gray wood grain-ish pattern is really cool and looks to be in awesome shape.

Ok, I lied  I mapquested it and it looks to be 1.5 hours (68 miles) away. I drove the car to work yesterday, about 50 miles round trip, and it ran great! The weather is supposed to be real nice tomorrow, so I'm going to drive it to work again. I wish I brought my camera with yesterday. When I came back from lunch, I parked in a open area of the lot and the car just looked great with some nice scenery behind it.

The dash and upper door panels are metal (I just went and stuck a magnet to them) I can't really tell how that pattern is applied. I think it might actually be some sort of paint technique :dunno: I will have to snap a closer pic, but you can see at the front and rear edges of the door panel where the pattern sort of fades to a single color.

That wood-grainish dash and door panels are actually my favorite part of the whole car. They will never be re-painted, so whatever color the exterior gets painted one day, will have to go with the interior color

Didn't take the car up to the show on Saturday, had some issues with it on Friday. Also, Sunday, me and the Dodge got to go for a tow truck ride back home.....it's a long story...

So far this year, I've had to push the car home twice and have it towed home once. Time to resolve these fuel issues. Looked inside the gas tank and I could tell it was filled with crap so I decided just to order a new gas tank. Second, I realized that the hard lines that run down the frame were replaced at one point with 1/4" line instead of 5/16" line. So those lines were replaced. I should have a new fuel pump delivered to the house today. Carb was taken off and I was going to rebuild it but I got the wrong rebuild kit :doah: so I took some of it apart and cleaned what I could. I have a new secondary fuel filter installed. (the one I put on a few weeks ago was already filled with crud) And the primary filter was taken off, I still need to disassemble it and clean it.

Scrap Drive car show/swap meet is this Saturday and I hope for it to be the first car show for the Dodge this year.

At least it runs, I'm hoping to fire my motor this week/weekend if all goes accordion to plan.

Well it looks like the pump might actually get here today, it was supposed to be here 2 days ago grrrrr. So after work I have to swap it out, instal the inlet/outlet lines, gas it up and check for leaks. Then I can make the ~60mile round trip tomorrow for the show. Fingers crossed

So the pump didn't show up till Friday, Scrap Drive car show was on Saturday. Of course somebody calls in sick at work so I had to work OT, got home late and had stuff to do around the house. Got the pump swapped and all the lines back together at like 10pm that night. Woke up the next morning, dropped the dog off at the groomer and got the car started. Took it for a test drive. Seemed to be running rough like it was missing. Also had the rear exhaust hanger fall off and it was dragging on the ground (previous owner ghetto rigged some steel banding for a hanger  )

At this point it was like 9am and the show was an hour away. I decided just to call it quits. Parked the car and then headed to the show with my other car. It was a great show and ticked me off that I didn't have the Dodge there. Pics can be seen here: http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=315645

When I got back home from the show, I looked at the car and realized that the plug wire for cyl. 1 had broke off at the distributor. Went to Vatozone and got the 1 wire I needed. This winter I will replace all the wires with these cool red translucent wires: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/7mm-Spark-Plug-Wires-Solid-Core-Red-Straight-Rajah-Ends,5966.html

I hope this car doesn't eat anymore money for the rest of the month while I save up for Iola swap meet in July. There I hope to find a sun visor and fender skirts for the car.

Alright, well the car has been running pretty good. We are at a little over 700 miles logged on to the car since we bought it. We have taken it to 3 car shows in the last month. The first one being an All- Mopar show where we won 3rd place for the antique category and got this sweet trophy.

I went to the Iola swap meet last weekend, which is the midwest's largest auto parts swap meet. Unfortunately I was not able to find any fenders, fender skirts, or chrome trim for the car. But I was able to get a sun visor (which is the top thing I wanted to get for the car) and I got a sweet pair of 50's custom headlight trim rings.

I was also on the search for a Trico vacuum operated fan for the car when I was at the swap meet. These fans were made in the 20's and 30's. I didn't find one at the show, but I just ordered this one:

I will continue to search for some rust free front fenders and the chrome trim that I'm missing. But otherwise, I don't think I will be buying a whole lot for the car until the winter time. I think next year I might buy a dual carb intake manifold (Offenhauser still makes one) and re-do the exhaust.

Nice man, I'm going to try and hit two shows this weekend, one for sure at least.

:waytogo: There's a Mopar show/swap this weekend I'm going to try and make.

I have seen this Chevy at a few shows this year. I really like his exhaust and think it's the route (pun intended) that I will go.

So then I can set it up for flamethrowers :pimp:

Hey Mudder, any updates on your brother's build?

Nope, nothing new there. It's been sitting outside covered up with tarps while we have been working on my trazer. We hope to get the major welding projects done on the trazer in the next week or two. Then my truck is getting kicked out and my bro's hot rod will be pulled back inside.

Sorry, I've been bad about updating this. Took the car to a few more shows in September, then took it to my favorite of the year, The Iron Invasion in Woodstock IL. It was in October and was a very cold day. It was actually snowing a little as I rode to the show. I don't think the temps got past 35 degrees but they still managed to get 500 cars in the show. The week before the show, my friend's uncle pinstriped some of the car. I only talked about a hood, trunk, & rook piece but he ended up surprising us with a little pinstriping above the headlights & tail lights. He really surprised me when I popped the hood the night before the Iron Invasion and saw that he pinstriped a bunch of stuff there too! He didn't even charge us for the extra stuff.

Here's some pics at the invasion. I will have to upload some more, I have better shots of the pinstriping saved on my camera still.

And I made a mount for the vintage 1920s/30s Trico vacuum operated fan. I still need to connect the vacuum to the motor to make it actually functional.

Next project, I just ordered a new radiator off Ebay, it should be here this week. Then I got to flush out all the old coolant, replace the hoses and swap in the radiator. I also am bidding on this :)
