1952 Dodge Coronet

I also scored a pair of 1956 Packard Clipper tail lights. I can't find the picture on my phone, but these are what they look like I'm hoping to have somebody graft these onto the car next winter. I'm also going to use a 53 dodge rear bumper then.

I've been spending the last month or so working on the car and getting it ready to drive the ~3 hrs to Dubuque Iowa May 4th and 5th for the Vintage Torque Fest car show. I had an issue with the front brakes. I replaced the wheel cylinders on the driver side, this solved the problem. I got a pair of new tires for the front. Painted the front wheels too. The center got painted black and the outer lip was painted white, to give the illusion of an even wider white wall

Took the car to the exhaust shop and had them sneak some mufflers underneath. It still retains the lake pipe look though. The front half is just not used. Inspected rear brakes, cleaned the rear white walls, fixed an issue with the rear shocks (I think), oil change and greased everything up.

Last thing was my brother finished up the passenger side custom hub cap and they are now "floaters" meaning they do not turn with the wheels. They are stationary. A fake valve stem was glued into the hubcap which really helps finish off the illusion that the car is floating down the road

On to the pics

Car has been driving great this year. Only issue was with the carb. Clip came off for a linkage to the accelerator pump. As I was fixing it, I saw the throttle shaft was leaking out fuel when it was moved. I had a rebuilt carb sitting on the shelf so I swapped it out and its been working good ever since.

I have taken the car to every show I've wanted to this year. It went to Iowa and Wisconsin a few times. I have now reached the point that I have put on 10,000 miles with me behind the wheel. The car now has 38,700 miles.

I have decided that the car will get some cosmetic love this winter. I have a friend that opened up his own personal body shop from his garage. He is going to graft in the 56 Packard tail lights that I bought last year.

Last week, I bought a 1956 Chevy station wagon rear bumper, he's going to swap that on too. Here's some pics

Here's another cool thing that happened this season. One in a million chance right here. My car parked next to a Canadian built 1952 Dodge Suburban.

These Canadian versions were mostly Plymouth bodied but then they have a modified front end to more resemble the dodge counterparts. The Plymouths of the era were more narrow than the Dodge/Chrysler/Desoto. It also had a Plymouth dash board but with dodge emblems.

Not much to add. I started working on a custom air cleaner for the car. Its a modified oil bath filter and a cut down hubcap as the lid

Then earlier this week, something big happened. 2 years ago, I met a guy named Alex. Super cool dude. We had a ton in common. We had the same taste in cars. He had a sweet 64 Buick and was working on a 65 Mercury. We cruised a ton that year. At the end of the season, he died in a motorcycle accident. His vehicles all sat. I wanted to buy the Buick so bad but just didnt have the money or space. Last week, I saw the Buick listed in a for sale advertisement. I sent it to a mutual friend and he rushed over there to buy it. I'm so happy that a friend got the car and not some random person that would possibly ruin it. Monday I met my friend at his shop. We washed the car and then took it out foe some photos
