1952 Dodge Coronet

Thought you might like this. I subscribe to this guy's channel and he is local to me. He has a pretty big collection of cars, most of them are the weird Canadian models.

Check this '50 Dodge he saved from the crusher...

Dang restrictions on the work computer wont let me watch the vid. I'll have to check it out when I get home.

Update: The 7.5 in the back of my friends Ranger has 3.73 gear. My car has 3.90 so I'm going with the 7.5. The 3.73 gear will help me out a little on the highway. It'll do 70mph as is right now, but I've been told these flathead 6's shouldn't be held above 3000 rpm for extended lengths of time. Here's the best part, he's going to make spring perches with 1/2" drop built in, with shock mounts and weld them to the axle after I give him the dimensions. Now when I pick it up from him, I just need to paint it and bolt it into the car. Then I can address the driveshaft. I also think I'm going to replace the shocks with Air Shocks while everything's apart

Well haven't been on ck5 much at all in the last year or so. Renewed my membership the other day.

Cosmetically the car is pretty much the same. The ranger rear end is working out great. I put more miles on it in 2016 than any other year I've had it. Generator quit on me end of the season last year so I had that rebuilt. This year I was fighting issues with it and didn't get many miles put on. The Pertronix failed so I ended up swapping in another distributor with points in it. Drove a few weeks and the condenser went out. Thinking I replaced that along with the dizzy, I wasted a lot of time looking elsewhere for the problem.

But we are running good now. Some of the wiring harness was replaced. I'm still 6volt but would like to change that next year perhaps. I got a pair of mufflers that I'm gonna have installed in the spring time.

I painted the fender skirts a wine red. But first I laid out a scallop and swirled patterned the metal underneath and clear coated the scallop.

You can also see I changed the front hubcaps, they are early 50s Oldsmobile with bullet centers.

I also put on a Thermador car cooler

Last year I took the car out to the Illinois railway museum again for their big car show.

But this time when I was riding one of their trains, I paid attention to where a train crossing was. I went and found the train crossing on my way home. It was totally worth it as you will see in the next few pictures I took

The Diesel engine in the 2nd pic is actually almost the same age as the car, I believe it was a 1954.

The Steam Engine was from the early 1900's I think

Finding more pics on my phone. This was taken July 2016 during the Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer Run Car Show.

The car ran great up to downtown Milwaukee till about 2 blocks from the show. That's when the ignition coil decided to start crapping out. I limped the car into the show. We wotked on it for awhile, thinking it was a different issue. I ended up having to get towed home from this one
The pic was taken later in the day. The streets were actually totally full, I had gotten one of the last open spots

Drove it to work this morning. About 28,degrees out. No heat in the car. Ill drive it till they salt the roads

Getting ready to work on this again. I have to get it ready for the 2018 cruising season. Last time I drove it (just before Christmas) 2 different times I had to make a panic stop. Both times the brakes at the right front drum were stuck while I was sitting at the light. I had to pump the brake a few times and then they released. Brake hoses are new, so I'm thinking maybe its the wheel cylinder. Gonna jack it up to do it's yearly oil change and then I'll check the brakes.

I picked up two great things last year. I got a hell of a deal on a transmission adapter that will allow me to bolt up a gm auto trans to the back of my flathead. It also came with a new starter. The kit is supposed to be $800. I got it for half that. I also had an HEI distributor given to me, that works for my flathead. But it's 12V so that will have to wait until I convert some day.

First big show for me is the Vintage Torque Fest in Dubuque Iowa. That show is the 1st weekend of May. Before then I need to do an oil change, fix the front brake issue, have mufflers installed, and notch the floor for better driveshaft clearance. I have a few other things I really want to do, but they aren't totally necessary right now.

This is something I started working on over a year ago. But it went on the back burner when the car was having issues and then again when my house was for sale and I moved.

These are Cal Custom Ripple hub caps that I used to run. I added a chrome bullet to the center. The spokes are actually chrome drawer pulls that I got from Menards and were cut and trimmed to fit

Here's the best part, the caps will be mounted to the spindle, not the wheels. So they will be stationary when I drive
