I just purchased a '63 Willys 4x4 station wagon on eBay. I haven't taken delivery of it yet, but it is said to have a Chevy frame w/350 and automatic transmission. The wheelbase of the wagon was originally 104.5", so I am assuming the drivetrain is a K5 Blazer of the '69 to '72 variety. Anyone have any knowledge of this build? It is currently in NE Tennessee, and the guy said he drove it about an hour to get it there, so I'm guessing it's last owner is within a 1 hour radius of Bristol.

BAD ASS STOKED FOR YOU. Interesting project indeed. PICS ASAP OF COURSE.

Go to eBay Motors and do advanced search for item number 200732364858 for pix. Can't wait to get it home!

Thanks for the link, sweetk30. Whadaya think? Good buy, or ripped off? Says he put over $15,000 in it originally. Was on sale at this dealer's for 7200. I thought the price was right, besides I like the older Willys wagons.

Nice looking rig! I like how they accidentally added the picture of the land cruiser in with the auction :haha:

Very cool!

Friend of mine had one. He drove it to high school, while I drove my 60 model CJ5 with the dual wheels.
His was stock, and had the L head engine. It was a little underpowered, but I liked driving it.
Later his father put a V6 Buick in it, and it was a blast to drive.

Since they drove it on the shore of the bay a lot mullet fishing, it started rusting a lot. So, they pulled the body off, cleaned up all the rust, primed it and then fiberglassed the whole thing, inside and out.

A friend of the family built fiberglass boats, and got the stuff in bulk. For a while there, they fiberglassed everything.
I was worried about the dog.........

It looks great in the pics :waytogo: who ever did the build did a great job on it. I cant tell what chassis it is sitting on from the pics, I see what looks like the original Willys front crossmember in front of the engine, but the steering set up is not original (box location, and drag link /tie rod), but the front spring mounts appear to be original style , but with extended shackles. :dunno:

Either way it looks great and the setup seems solid, I know my way around Willys wagons as I have been doing a frame off build of a 53 2wd body on a 62 4wd frame with GM drivetrain for my dad as a retirement present.

Nice looking Jeep!..I always liked that body style, with the teardrop rear 1/4 windows...up the road from my house there is a near identical all original Jeep like yours, thats been restored and painted battleship gray...looks like it even has the original tires & rims on it...one of very few I've seen in my area thats not a rolling pile of rust flakes bondoed back together....

I had a 57 all original running CA willys wagon 4wd same exact color.
Too bad I needed money and sold it for $2000 cash.
Now you remind me of it.
I guess I should sell all my trucks and live off memories alone.

Josh, glad to hear you have knowledge of Willys and K5s. The Willys will be delivered this coming Tuesday, so I'll probably be picking your brain while I try to figure how this thing was built....

No problem :D, I'm curious to see how it was done also. I'm getting ready to put the body back onto the frame of ours, so the next hurdle will be the interior, as dad would like power windows and AC now :doah: , somthat should be fun :D
