So the lady and her husband I bought it from were great people. They were very happy it was going to someone who really wanted it and would out it to use again. It was listed about 5 months ago for $9k. I saw it pop up on the local app because it was dropped to $7.5k. before I went to look I was setting up a time. They said someone was coming over Sat at 10, I could come at 11. I then messaged back, I could rearrange work and come today, Thursday, or Friday. Lucky for me she said first come first served, so she had no problem showing me the car Friday.

I arrived and after looking it over and talking with them for a while about life, growing up in the area and such I took it for a ride around the block. While talking though I got the history of the car. Bought in Redding CA it lived it's life up there until 2014. The widow didn't want it after her husband passed so this couple bought it. They put about 200 miles on it in the 8 years. Never driving it more than 20 miles out of town.

It cranked right up on the rebuilt carb (cerca 2014). And purred. Critters have stored nuts/shells and the engine needs a good cleaning, but the 283 ran so smooth.

You definitely have to plan ahead to stop. But that is easy to address. It needed new tires, battery, and the electrical on the dash is not hooked up at all. No lights, no radio, and also no heater/fan. Rear seat needs to be reupholstered but for now will get a new cover.

So after talking to them a bit, I asked if they were flexible on price. Immediately she says Jerry can go lower. Made me laugh. I asked what they were thinking, she replied what's your best offer. I was willing to do the $7.5k but said I could do $7k but would love to get it for $6.5k. Jerry replied, I can do $6.5k. I made sure they felt they were getting their money's worth and and I told them I thought I was getting a great deal. So off to the bank and returned and it was mine. And that last pic was as I drove it home 13 miles. Probably it's longest drive in years.

Now I've added some gas and put in a new battery.

@82355 I'll definitely leave it 4 door. As you said it's very nice. And it does suit me with all the kids I have.

Extremely clean underneath. Trunk is very good with no rust holes.

Drip rails show rust coming through. So I'll want ti address that.

On Saturday I picked up my buddy in town and we cruised over to his dad's place. Dad had a 64 Chevelle SS convertible, but has since sold it. Has other classic cars and wanted to check it out. On the way over the rear passenger drum stuck. Smoking along the way.

So I opened it up and after a little bit of cleaning

Took it apart and replaced the one side.PXL_20220204_014234678.jpg

That got me back on the road (still need to do the other three drums). But contemplating a disc brake swap for the front.

Now I'm at the tire shop having those put on. Now I'm good enough to get me around town and to Cars and Coffee tomorrow.

When I get home today, 2 issues to address, battery hold down and rear seat cover.

70 Chevelle disc brakes will go on that car from knuckles out. Use the master cylinder/booster, put the prop valve on the frame under booster.
Brake pedal has 2 holes for brake rod, 1 power, lower. 1 high manual.

Yeah mine didn't stop for shit, had to leave alot of room in front.
1 time my bil gave a whole bunch of crap for being slow on the highway when we were going out to dinner one night.

Front disc conversion should be # 1 on your list.

You need to roll all four windows down, and then take some pictures.

Martin
Will do, I do think that is the best look for this car.

No white letters?????

I didn't even think to ask.

Thanks for the info!

Only thing is I think that master is for a Corvette disc disc.
If you can get with out the master.
I did use inline tube replacement hard line kit for a 70 Chevelle, only used the front and the master. I cut and flared the rear for the combo/proportioning valve. The combo valve I bought from a Chevelle specialty store. Turned out to be rebox modern (1990's) gm valve.
The line from left to right along the crossmember was a bit long, being for 70.

My car, 66, had a single outlet master. Yours 67 should have dual outlet, should be much easier to plumb. You might not even need to change the combo valve. Look over your plumbing.
You might want to get the spindles, rotors, and calipers.
Then get the master and booster for a 70 Chevelle from a regular parts source.

I'm gonna be that guy. It's not a 4 door "no post". It's a 4 door hardtop. The 4 door sedan got the post.

Anyways, cool new ride, I dig the 4 door hardtops cuz they're kinda rare!

My best friends Dad growing up had a ‘67 moredoor hardtop Chevelle. He drove us to soccer practice all the time. That car was just smooth. He coached us and left his clipboard on the trunk lid at practice and drove home. The clipboard was where he left it when we got home. Like 10 miles at least! Same drivetrain and colors too.

Congrats on the new ride. It’s a blank slate and not some ultra collectible ss396 car. Have fun with it!

Funny you bring up smooth.
My neighbor had her car towed from her work to a repair shop, I was asked to go get her, I did in the 66 hardtop, about a 10 mile drive on freeways. Off commute times, 70 mph, through a long sweeping interchange.
She was amazed at how smooth my old car drove lol.

Most people don't understand the difference between hardtop and sedan any more henace the no post description.
I sure do miss mine. I need to get on the 2 door replacement.

Thanks, and be that guy. I like not sounding like an idiot when describing my own car to someone else, ha!

Any info shared is appreciated.

Looking through the brochure it looks like their name for it was Sport Sedan. And Malibu has to do with the trim level?

Those kind of
So, 454 next?

High revving 327…

…or an LS.
I'd love to do any of those, but I'll need to cruise with its current 283 for a while. If the right deal popped up here I'm sure I'd jump on it. Kind of how this car came to be owned by me, wasn't really looking, just looking at the classifieds for my area. Deals on those aren't very plentiful here north of San Francisco, but not gonna shut the door on possibilities.

Some cheaper tasks like front brake swap, heat and fan working at least, add a few seatbelts to get all 6 of us in there, upholstery of the back seat (bench seat cover is too close in price to getting repo vinyl), replacing some door and window seals (already have some, need others, and working out minor electrical issues/gremlins. Will probably all happen next. Intake and exhaust should be looked at too.

I had a flat cam in mine still passed CA smog for transfer in 94.
Swapped in @200* @.050 and mid .450 lift cam some 305 unleaded heads. The 2jet and repaired single exhaust.

Cruised 80+mph, passing at 90,across I70 in Utah with family and roof luggage rack, got 19mpg.

Later was 6" rod 355 2004r, SS 2.5" duals, 4 barrel. Mpg went to crap :D

I love 4 door hard tops. At bloomington gold one year I saw a 69 impala 4 door hardtop, Caprice hidden headlights, black on black with a 390hp 427. I still wish I could have bought it. So cool to cruise with kids or buddies and with a hitch, to pull race car or camper.
