just realized it's a C20 (leaf spring) short bed. How odd. Not sure I've seen that before. Wonder if it's original. Not sure I want leaf spring either.

hmmmm

they didn't answer this morning and the answering machine went crazy on me :(

just called me back, the duallie truck

it's a 72 frame with 68 body, 80s 350 engine "4 bolt main" and 700r4 with supposed warranty.

gunna look at it in a couple hours

Before I go, I've got a major concern. It's titled as a '68, but has a '72 frame etc. I don't need problems like this. Who knows when I'll need to abandon CA ship and have everything inspected.

Does anyone know how I can fix that?

Get both VIN numbers and check with the local LEO to be sure neither of the numbers have issues first. It is not abnormal for old vehicles to be a mix of parts, you just don't want one of the VIN numbers to come back stolen or it will be impounded with no compensation.

Disappointed :(

No problems with VIN numbers....cause the front half of the frame was factory '68. :doah: The rear half is '72 duallie leaf spring from a long bed. Terrible connection, butted and welded with angle. Paint was so so, but the body clean.

Just gunna keep looking. Other two ads I answered were no reply and sold :(

Hopefully you don't mind, but since there are so many votes for a lowered SWB, I wanted to post a pic of my longbed. I only dropped it 2" though. I have never driven a lowered SWB, but I can't imagine they can come ANYWHERE close in the ride dept.

it's not really that, it's just long looking and I'm preparing to spend a lot on suspension to get the handling I want.

Really though, my Ext Cab S10 is ~120". The long bed is ~127". The short bed is ~115. Not really that much longer than my DD right now.

I'm sure there will be a lot of Longbed to Shortbed conversions; and more to come. They just need to be done better than this last one.

Also if you are not building for show quality, don't pay good money for a front disc brake conversion. Grab the parts off of a 73-87 and bolt them on. All but a couple of holes in the frame are the same for the A-arms.

have to change steering also

get the short bed and run Airride Tech, a arms and air bag struts, and a 6 link in the rear, My friend has that set up with 4 wheel disc on his daily driver that he also ran at the autocross once or twice.

I really like the big 5 spoke rims on these trucks but something about this Vette rally wheel really does somethin' for me.

Wondering if I can get some 18s made up like these. What is the dia and width of these anyway. Anyone know off hand?

EDIT: No, it's not mine. But the truck is super sexy, been on CL forever, asking way too much $$$.

So I took a look at a truck yesterday that looked nice. It has some back registration fees to deal with and the guy knows this so he's ready to work on the price. Kinda errked me because that wasn't mentioned before. Also, the ad said it had dropped spindles on it but he forgot that was changed too. He cut the front crossmember and raised the whole front suspension (effectively dropping the truck 2", plus another 2" in cut spring) nothing is welded and the frame isn't cut, but it bothered me. Supposedly does that all the time when doing airbag set ups, but went another route. Also changed intake manifold, 4 barrel carb, and put inner wells back in since the ad.

He's had it since 2004, never registered it and never put it in his name. Has title and it's straight with DMV.

Nice truck otherwise. Went to see it with 7k in my pocket but kinda errked now :(

I could see 5K maybe. Body work doesn't appear so great, on an $8k truck wouldn't you paint the box too? Heater box is smashed. Interior is filthy. I'm not getting a very good vibe on that one, looks like it may be a polished turd.

The box is painted now. AC box still broke. Frame and under body great condition, real clean and solid. Recently installed body mounts (that's a first). Body is straight but it's a basic of basic flat paint job.

They are all polished turds around here unless you get into the 20k range. There are so many "fresh paint, interior, "new" motor" trucks here that look like sh1t underneath or still have basic brake systems etc...... all wanting a ton of money. Find something straight, but ugly, and it's 5k +

:(

Walk away fast
Still has body shop dust on the steering wheel. Parts not re-installed.
No inner wheels. A/C is completely missing.
Plus anybody who moves crossmember to gain drop is gonna be bad news. Gonna trust your life on that? Drop coils are cheap as are spindles. That thing isn't that low. My '72 2wd Blazer was that low on just Eibach coils.
A 4/6 would bring it down at least that far without moving the crossmember.
You know my deal with the '67-72s.
That Cheyenne Super shorty you posted first is STILL a better buy if it is indeed a Super.
*EDIT: You can get the vette rally in 17" no 18".
Got my first set from Wheel Vintiques back in '93 but the only had 15" back then.
