1968 c30 "Papa Smurf" prerunner build. links, beams, and turbo

Any plans to add a factory front bumper? :dunno:

Would make it that much more of a sleeper.....

I do have the bumper and it’s in really good shape. I did want to put the bumper on it but after driving it now I would smash it all up first trip to the dunes. The tube bumper i have now has already pushed sand. I have thought about putting it on and making it removable as I’m working on getting this street legal now it would be nice to drive around with it on just would have to take off for dunes

What about reinforcing the back side of the stock bumper so that it can take a hit without bending?

Been skipping around the thread so maybe I missed it, you are going to flare the wheel openings? If so, there's a guy out of Ohio name Jerome Borris. His shop I believe is called "The Patina Plantation" he is exceptionally good at faking patina paint jobs and even blending into original patina paint where repairs & welding have been made

You could do something like they do for these Ali Arc semi truck bumpers. They have two big bolts in the middle with a tow hook looking eye that are fixed to the bumper and have a Teflon washer on front and rear of the bumper. They might be Acme threads for longevity. You generally use a heel bar to tighten or loosen them. They screw into a structure behind the bumper and when unscrewed you can flip the bumper down to open the tilt hood. In your case you could just use them as a way to securely attach the bumper then unscrew it and remove when you get to the dunes. Just a thought.

Been a busy last couple weeks lots going on. Stayed up for a few days and got the truck ready to go for a test run Saturday at the Silver Lake Prerunner Invasion. New triple pass radiator is in and plumbed work great. Now that I finally have a tablet with guages I was able to see what my motors doing. First gear rev limiter for a few minutes will get it so 238. Other then that ran at 203 all day on the wood. New bedsides fenders and hoods got mounted and all did good. Rear fenders need slight trim where they rubbed tire at bump. I lost a bumpstop running the dunes because I may have forgotten to tighten some bolts but luckily some guy found it and returned it me so that was rad. The picture with my truck parked on the hill is me putting my bump back in. I didn’t have a jack so parked it on the hill and had my buddy lift the corner.

Here’s some pics of getting bedsides on and from the dunes Saturday.

Hell ya! Nothing like not having to worry about beating on your sh!t.. looks crazy with the fenders mounted.. good job man.

Looks real good with the metal on Nate. I like it even better.

Do you know what the total weight is of that smurf now that it is close to complete? (we all know they are never done)

I don’t know what it says yet. I’ll run over to Craig’s once it’s done and put it on the scales again and see where it ends up.
