1969 C10

Slow process of putting it back together.
I've been reading conflicting opinions.
This cowel to hood seal goes under the cowel not on top, correct?

Also opinions on these debris guards?
They didn't come with them from Gand my truck is in the desert and parked in the garage, how needed are they if at all?

They do look nice, I'll tell ya what!

Yes, the seal goes under the cowl panel.
I put a set of those debris guards on each of my trucks, just in case.

Thanks. I was leaning towards picking the debris guards up, they look nice. Lmc has them for $29.99
They aren't bad from my experience. I out the plain stainless in my K10 that is cherry red metallic.
My C10 got the black one since it is dark forest green.
You gotta decide if you want to see it.

At parts geeks they have these
For springs, and both hinges it's $172
These have one spring for each hinge

Has anyone used auto metal direct before?

What’s wrong with your springs and hinges?

Yea. The aftermarket hinges weren’t any better than 50 year old hinges in my case. Just a bit shinier.
One of the rivets is loose on passenger side hinge Makes it not sit right when closed. Even after shimming that fender, when closed the hood is really close to the fender.

I could see needing a new one in that case. Only two springs are needed. Not sure why they list 4. I’m guessing it’s a typo.

.
When the hood is open and you move it side to side, the rivets move, almost like they're about to fall out. I read elsewhere that at that point it's best to just replace them.

In Orange is loose

Why does the driver side have a nut to tighten but passenger doesn't? (In yellow)

The nut is probably an aftermarket repair.

That's what I was thinking. I have no history on these hinges. They were in one of many boxes of parts that came with the truck when I bought it.

I'll just get new ones. Is autometal direct any good?

They were $138 (I think total) the local guy who was out, sells for $125.

All other online outfits were at least $150ish or more. not a huge difference but...speedway was about $150 while
Partsgeek was around $185

my guess on the 4 springs is they are 2 sets of 2 with different spring rates for different weight hoods.
