1969 C10

Slow process of putting it back together.
Can you get away with the center dump ram horn, or would that put your exhaust into the crossmember?

Martin
I don't know. Truck is off to the shop for wiring and exhaust. I guess I can wait a bit and see what they say. I didn't think to look until after I got home and got to thinking again about which mufflers to run. Then it opened this can of worms.

I'm going to get 2.5 thrush hush mufflers regardless, and go from there.

It looks like it might, just make up the turn back with the exhaust pipe. Are you against headers? I can understand not wanting headers.

Not necessarily against them, I'd just rather not. I like the ram horn look.

If you want quiet performance, I would look at the longest Magnaflow mufflers you can fit. The bigger the muffler, the quieter it will be. Also the longer you can make the tailpipe the quieter it will be. I say Magnaflow because of the straight thru design being good for power.

The larger diameter will kind of mellow the sound. The smaller diameter is going to be a bit raspier or sharper.

It will run out behind the rear tires. Possibly cross over pipe as well.
2.5 maga flow, you say? I'll check prices but the Thrush Hush 2.5 are $32 a piece on amazon.

I really dislike the flow master 50 3" now on my burb. I had a 70 3" and it was great, got a new 70 in my cart at Summit, going to redo this system sometime soon.

Been MIA for a bit, but here is the 1969 c10. I picked it up today and it's running/driving and stopping. New wire harness, exhaust (thrush hush 2.5 mufflers) and brake lines, steering column was rebuilt. Plus much much more... A few cosmetic things are left to do in and out but it's running and that's enough for now...

Time to take that out to a car get together, with the little women.
Socializing, bs'ing general car stuff. You'll get lots of input from the car community.

Looks good. Doing dual exhaust with that rear suspension setup is extra tricky.

After zooming in on the under truck pick I noticed your trans cooler lines are steel braided? Going over the right exhaust pipe. Nothing wrong with that, just make sure it can't drop and touch.

That exhaust does look sweet how does it sound?

The exhaust is smooth and mellow. Nice idle and mellow when driving. Thrush Hush 2.5 muffler.

Steel braided and I will check where they lay I have some heat shield stuff I can use over that portion. Those header plug boots should work, if needed.

They don't lay on the exhaust though.

I still need to get a dust cover for the flexplate/torque converter as well.

Awesome! :waytogo:

I actually thought it would take longer to get on the road. Good for you getting it back together.
Looks tits!
