Quite honestly though, that thing is attractive for 2k OBO if your intent was to build it to wheel.. In Maine you'd never ever find a solid original 70 w/o any major cancer and if you did especially w original metal you would pay some serious coin! Can you other guys around the country (non salt on the roads in the winter) find K5s of this vintage for this price, this solid? Lets say $1800.. Good deal IMHO...Slap some tons under that thing, full cage, winch bla bla bla...Good fun...
I got my rust free K5 out west for $1800. Less than $3000 total I had it back in Michigan.
Personally I'd fix the thing myself. If I had more time and money...and oh a pole barn and some acres...I'd make a serious offer but not $2000. If it was rust free and a stick I could see $2000 in the damaged condition it's in. I watched a good shape rust free 71 with 4" of lift, 35's, 350/SM465/205/D44/12bolt/3.73's sell here for $4000 last summer. Gas prices have made these things just not as valuable as they used to be, especially here in the rust belt where jobs are scarce and disposable income is low.

I was gonna say the same thing.
They are out there, not everyday but wait a bit and you get great deals.
We sent a couple back east that we got for $500-600 complete with something wrong with the drivetrain.
i can't remember the last time i even saw a first gen here in joysey... well, other than that goofy dually towrig i posted about awhile back...
There's a reason I didn't buy mine in Michigan. They exist back west. Road trip or a car delivery and it's yours.

Sold to a guy that is going to give it some TLC. I'd love to fix it up, but don't have the time, money, pole barn, etc. (similar to what someone else posted.)
About the insurance. They totaled it. They said the value (if it was repaired) would be around $5100. The estimated cost to repair it was going to be $1000 - $1500 more than that, therefore, it was totaled.
As far as paying the insurance company the salvage cost so I could get it back, that was a LOT more than the $200 to $500 I had been told to expect. That's why I had to ask $2000 for it, to cover my cost to get it back, plus some of the money I had in it.

I would have taken that and went home, and not have to worry about selling it.
The only reason we said buy back is to keep it.
I hope you made at least an extra $500 on top of the $5100 with all the hassle you had to go thru buying it back, and then listing it and reading our silly comments, and all.

So you are telling me he sold it for 5900.00. Then YEAH I would have done that too. Were did he say that he got 5100.00 for it from insurance, unless I read it wrong...
All i was saying is that I would have kept it and fixed it my self. instead of going through insurance and giving up my safe driving discount.
