It will fit with the compressor. That's why I wanted the Camaro LS. The futher back the block the wider the frame rails get. As for suspension I will just use what's on there. Lowering springs, but may need to notch the rear. I would also like to box the frame and add braces maybe. Looking at other builds for ideas.
I know the Camaro AC compressor is definitely different from the trucks in that there is no belt tensioner. The belt is meant to be stretched onto it. Horrible idea if you ask me. Over time the belt will stretch and eventually jump a rib on the crank pulley which will destroy the belt in short order. Then to put on a new one you have to have a special belt stretcher tool to get it over the crank pulley. All that sounds ridiculous right? Well I guess it's actually beneficial for us engine swappers as it mounts the AC compressor in tighter clearing the frame. So I guess you have that going for you, which is cool.
Just updating this a little...it's not a dead build.
So after getting my garage ready for the build. Made a work bench and some cabinets.
I ended up getting a 2015 TR6060 with 7k on it.
Next I ordered the cam and engine mounts today. More to come, going to start hitting this very soon.
I've read that some aftermarket AC systems don't like using the variable compressors. They would rather have a clutch type Sanden compressor. Those come with most kits and you can specify LS brackets to mount it up in the traditional spot.
