HINZ28 submitted a new Build:

1971 K5 Blazer (in the driveway)

About a year ago I went out to a local guys place to buy some parts for my 1971 K10. Little did I know I’d found my next project. Here sat a 1971 K5 blazer, it was slowing becoming a part of the earth and I thought to myself, what a shame.

Recently I made him an offer on on this almost forgotten blazer. Offer was accepeted, and for $900 I hauling home a $900 1st gen blazer. Here’s a few picture of how it was sitting waiting to die

Sat one the trailer for about a week while I planned out what needs tackled first. Found hood, I have piles of random 67-72 parts laying around. Gathered up a box of goodies it was missing. 2107B066-9B37-42B9-8F49-751495E60FB1.jpeg

Made some progress last weekend thanks to the help of @Sn95.0 This is the real meaning of a driveway build! I convinced the seller to also throw in that big hub 4:10 Dana 44. I also picked up a Sm465/np205 combo, both shafts, and a Hydro Bell

Tossed them on with some zero rates to compensate for the 73+ springs being longer than 67-72 would be. Hung the front axle today and tossed a set of extra 37s on the front. This really boosted my motivation!

Rear will get a ORD shackle flip, zero rates, and that big Bertha of a rear end that is setting under it. It’s an 1150 AAM 410 limited slip, disc.

This build is gona be pretty basic and boring. Nothing fancy. I plan to take this in the river and not give a damn about it

Finally got it rolled into the garage. Now to tear it back down and get the driveline all setup

Had to get in in garage cause I’m running out of driveway space. Picked up another 2wd 72 last night.

Not much to update. Been rebuilding all the brakes and hubs. Need to do a rebuild on my big hub lock outs, didn’t realize how expensive parts for those are.

Have lots of parts ready, hopefully picking up my 5.3L this weekend!

The trans, t case and bell housing are in the truck. Ready to mate up a motor and drivelines. 002D4289-C2F6-4E88-A731-90D905247AF9.jpeg

Also couldn’t resist buying these 16.5x9.75 wheels. So now I have to swap all these tires around A43CF51D-81EE-414D-8DE9-096249A30D27.jpeg

Did body mounts today.....successfully changed one. The rest of bolts broke was able to remove and replace the bushings. Will need to get new bolts for them tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build. Looks good so far!

Got the body mounts all done.
Captain Fab Hydro clutch bracket installed

Ordered the Dirty Dingo cross member and slide LS mounts bare. Started painting the parts. Not a huge update

Found someone tossing these seats to the curb. They should do for temporary. I’ll build some brackets. I think they are ford seats.....901DD0BF-5DA8-4647-B8E9-825F4B34B671.jpeg
Stole the Bumper and grille off that parts truck I bough. The 71-72 looks so much better and it will have the correct front end on it now

Does this also do hydroboost or are you keeping it vacuum assist?

Keeping it vacuum assist. I’m sure you could do either with the bracket.
