1972 K5 Blazer

Another boring update. I’ve been slacking. I think my motor will be here this week so that may boost my motivation.

Added the 3rd pedal. Was lucky to find a factory one. Slides right into the stock auto brackets

Got seats and console sitting in it tonight. Not mounted yet. Going to have to get creative B9458B37-34F6-457D-908C-7AA3D32464DB.jpeg

Anyone ever tossed a TBI 87-91 k5 tank in a 67-72? Have one here gona try and use it with a high pressure pump if it fits well. Any pump recommendations for factory style pump running higher psi for LS fuel injection??

Yeah most of us run the ep381 or equivalent with the TBI sender. If you want the metric to AN fitting part numbers for the sending unit I can post them tomorrow for you.

Its a good option but there is a little bit of work to make the tank fit in a first gen. The filler is on the wrong side, the rear cross member needs to be moved back and a body lift or some spacers are needed.

I saw where you made crossmember for the front straps. How did you move the rear crossmember? Are we talking the very rear one the body mounts to??

I wouldn't mind those part numbers when you get the time, will save me from the digging :waytogo:

I will echo what @skunked said. I ran the stock TBI sender in a TBI tank with an EP381 pump in there for my 8.1 swap in my V3500. I too converted the lines to 6AN all the way up to the motor and back. I cut/flared the feed/return ports off the sender and added screw on adapters to convert the ports to 6AN and then hook up the 6AN lines. Really wasn't that bad, and was really nice that I used flexible braided stainless hose where I could run the lines wherever I wanted. Was a bit more money, but was really nice in the end. And the pump and lines and everything seem to be working just fine with no leaks.

Skunked, I can't remember, did you do the same cut/flare on the sender like I did, or did you do something different there?

No, with the K5 sender you just thread on the adapters and run it.

Those are "O" ring flare on the sending units

Oh yeah, you are correct. On my K5 I have the exact same thing. I'm remembering now that I was thinking on my CC that I was going to have the same type of fittings on the sender as my K5 and could do the same thing, but when I pulled the bed off and saw it was just hose clamps, I was pissed cause I knew I was going to have to get more fancy with it, haha. If I ever swap to a single tank in the rear of my CC, I'll make sure to get a sender that already had the threaded ends on it to make my life easier next time :waytogo:

Should be 5/16 with 14mm and 3/8 with 16mm

Oh that part I knew from replumbing my 78 for TBI. I was just being lazy and hoping he had the part numbers handy for the 14MM to -6 and 16MM to -6 adapters handy. I used all hard line and the factory stainless braided chunks on my 78
. But it wasn't as clean as converting to AN would've been.
