1973 C10 "The Purple Truck"

Basic build
I was tempted to but didn't this time. I'm going to go out and check it later when I need a break from the computer. Is it just me, or is the seat cover purple too. :doah:

The Cheyenne Super is supposed to have some sort of "special" seat upholstery.

it's eggplant

Eggplants and oranges don't mix. Or is it eggplant and pumpkin? But I don't think those mix either. But are they both gourds at least.....

Eventho I appreciate all the fun banter, I just don't feel "like" I can like these posts.... :p:

:rotfl:

So a saddle blanket seat cover and primer grey paint on order?

Can you do a wrap for an old wheeling buddy on a crew cab for a good price? :waytogo: I would even be willing to drive the vehicle down to CO and work on the install with you, after it's running obviously, haha

I like the looks of this thing. I plan to do something similar when my boys get old enough to drive

I would provide you the material for a wrap at a good price. But even a "good" price might be more than you think. Depending on the color you want, it could run nearly $750 for a metallic color. I was mulling this over earlier today in regards to this C10. The problem is it only comes in 5' wide rolls. I think a bed side might be more than 30" so you're going to need a lot of length and there will be a lot of waste when it comes to the bed; same for the front fenders.

As far as the install, if you're helping over a weekend I wouldn't charge nothing. Fair warning, I've only done a tailgate. My wife is the one that actually has the training. It would realistically take you and I at least 2 solid days for us to get it done. And that's just covering the outside. No door jambs or things like that.

So I just have to throw out all the caveats. If those are okay, then we can figure it out. There are some really awesome colors available.

This is the only rust on the truck.

They glassed over it when they painted. This is one of the rear fenders, but the other rear is the same way. Otherwise the front fenders and rockers are all rust free. Considering how bad these 70's trucks can get in the fenders, I'm not complaining.

When I get the truck running we can talk and see if we can figure something out. Honestly, this is gonna sound kinda funny, but I just want a solid blue color, nothing crazy at all (maybe just a tad darker than the factory, but not much). That way, I wouldn't have to worry about door jams or anything as it should somewhat match the coloring already on the truck and wouldn't stand out at all. And I kinda figured there would be a bunch of waste, but I want the crew cab to look pretty good. If I didn't care so much I would just spray paint the thing, but I want this truck to look good for a while, so I was figuring spending quite a bit on paint in the first place, so that's why I was thinking a wrap would actually be a bit cheaper.

Either way, like I said, let me get the stupid thing finally running and we can chat more. :waytogo:

I would do saddle blanket but he wants buckets.

Nicole commented that without a bench seat he can't snuggle with a girl. I said isn't that what we want? Don't need to be making it easy for him to be fooling around.

Here's what the original seat looks like.

Even without the recent purple paint this truck was colored interestingly. Orange-brown paint and green seatbelts and seat upholstery. The interior trim panels look gray and the dash pad and carpet are brown.

did a bucket seat ever stop you? :surepal:

and the green matches the door panels and dash pad. Still kind of an odd combo though.

Cool project, so when does the 4wd conversion start? I see on fb someone is putting a kit out that takes out the caster issue we had.
