1973 C10 "The Purple Truck"

Basic build
That or Spanish Gold I think. Does seem like an orange to me tho.

Cool project, so when does the 4wd conversion start? I see on fb someone is putting a kit out that takes out the caster issue we had.
Maybe once the boys are done with it but that's 7 or 8 years in the future.

Nope. Must be burnt orange. I didn't see the codes on the glove box. I wonder if the build sheet might be under the bench like the 66.

subscribed....Since I'll be doing a c10 as well :) Been thinking about doing a Fitech Fuel injection setup on mine as well. Gonna call them on Monday and see what kind of deal I can make.

Get a much bigger air cleaner on that poor 350. I think you'd be surprised how much power that itty bitty POS is costing. I have a subscription for Motor Trend on Demand and on a recent episode of Engine Masters they dyno tested 15 or more air filter assemblies. Everything from no element at all to K&N's to factory dual snorkel. That little deal on your 350 was killing over 30 hp on the dyno compared to the best flowing ones. The best off the shelf one was the filter top K&N. That might be a 175 hp 350 with a better Air Filter...

Good point. I hate those stupid filters and I think this is the 2nd or 3rd truck I've bought that had one on it. I almost hate them as much as the Edelbrock triangle foam filters....

I didn't know it could have that much affect. Funny thing is I'm sure the person that installed it thought they were doing the opposite. :doah:

Both of those trucks were listed for sale with Spanish Gold noted.Looks just like my C10 which is also Spanish Gold.

I didn't know these were on the inner fender, I thought it was in the glove box. Thanks to @skunked for teaching me even if that wasn't his intent.

Pretty rare to see one of those stickers survive 44 years, and still be there--never mind be able to read it!...here they usually blew off in the first couple of years..why they stuck them under the hood on the inner fender never made much sense to me..

My '81 G-10 van had that options list stuck to the underside of the hood..one day while doing an oil change,I saw something paper, sticking out of a hole in the unibody rail up front near the sway bar--thought it was money at first!--I managed to coax it out of there fairly intact, and discovered it was the original "build sheet"...some assembly line worker must have rolled it up and shoved it in there!..

I've found build sheets on pickups on the rear wall of the cab under the window--on the gas tank on older trucks that had the tank behind the seat, and under the seat springs too...most had the options list on the glove box,but most after 1972 had them on the inner fender ..

no paint code though?

Interesting it was two tone, does that mean it had the trim?

The previous owner of my 66 saved the build sheet that was under the seat when he had it reupholstered. That is supposed to be where you can find them on that era truck from what I understand. you can see the zig-zag of the spring permanently impressed on the build sheet. It's kind of a heavy duty paper stock like poster board.

I'm curious if there might be one under the seat of the 73 because it doesn't look like the seat has been worked on.

Per @Bent77 , yes it would have had the trim. Makes me wonder if they just glassed over those holes when they painted it eggplant. I was hoping the paint code would be on there.

I was wondering what the "rear window delete" is because it does have a rear window.

Delete of the sliding window.

I’m curious of the factory color as well. Is the inside of the cab still factory color? That would be the top and bottom of the fender as well as inside of the bed
