1973 C10 "The Purple Truck"

Basic build
No kidding. I never noticed that; too busy focusing on the walls. Does make you wonder how that would happen. Had to been before assembly.

Update on the engine, they have inspected it and I'm getting a new engine. Don't know how much longer the wait is. Figure I'll just keep checking in until I get shipping notice.

In my crew cab thread I posted about picking up a 98 C3500 Gen VI 454 donor truck. I'm leaning towards putting the 4l80 from it into this truck. I've been wanting to put overdrive in this truck, so why not use one I own. I haven't found anything saying it won't fit so I'd appreciate a heads up if anyone knows otherwise.

Edelbrock now sells a controller for the 4L80E that works with the PF4.....they just came out with it earlier this year.
I saw that. Their website is showing it out of stock but I guess I don't need it anytime too soon. I'm wondering how much tuning is available. It costs about the same as the US Shift controller in the crew cab which has tons of tuning options, including multiple ratio tcases.

HGM also has a can bus harness to connect the ProFlo to their controller.

I have the motor and transmission you want out of the 99 Suburban. Motor has 77K on a rebuild.

I think the 4l80 is quite wider than a th400, and some cutting of the trans tunel is mandatory. I also heard some guys at the track talking about being able to use the 4l80 without a trans controller... but thats beyond my knowledge atm.

The 4L80E is about the same size as a TH400.

Looks like stand alone trans controllers are low on supply due to the supply chain we're all so fond of hearing about. There are a few available tho, just not the full selection.

So the engine is getting replaced. Is someone else going to build it? Cuz that would be good…
