Yes, swapped it out for a rebuilt through a friend of friend that does transmissions (35+ years experience). After pricing it all out I was only going to save $150-200 doing it myself and I obviously wouldn't have any type of warranty. This one also has a transgo shift kit installed with a few other upgrades that I wouldn't have done so I think I'm better off.

Definitely getting lowered, I'll probably notch the frame when I pull the bed off for the K5 tank conversion.

For budget sake I'm leaning toward a simple drop with spindles and springs up front with a flip kit, shackles and a C notch in the rear. There's a company just south of me that makes a decent kit that I've been eyeballing.
 
Can you find a short box for a decent price out your way?

Just thinking, If you are doing all that work anyway to the back half of the truck...I would want it to be a short box.

The thought has crossed my mind, I would much rather have a short box.
 
I'm hoping to drop mine with just a flip kit in the rear and no c notch or dropped spindles. Really just going for a more level stance.

I'm want to go lower, like 6" in the rear.

it's actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. Just have to remove 14" of frame between the cab and the front of the rear hanger and lop of 6" from the back. I was just telling the wife the other night that I'm itching to burn some metal :saweet:
