Saved from cruel and unusual punishment
I'm surprised some frame after the axle wouldn't need removed. Or did you mean the 14" in front is the only "hard" part?

I'm curious how much the flip kits drop the rear and if it will make the rear lower than the front. Trying to figure out what I could measure ahead of time to determine that. Don't suppose you have any insight since you're ahead of me on the planning.

They have to be moved anyway though?

they would need to be at least unclipped from the frame. Have to shorten, reflare the brake line anyway.

6" has to be removed off the end of the frame too. So it's shortened 20" overall.

from what I can gather the drops are 1.5-2" lower in the rear for the level look.

edit- flip alone looks like it's 6". Maybe you can use a longer shackle for an inch or two?

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. Would be easier to do longer shackles except maybe some pinion issues. I haven't looked to see if this truck is a 1-piece or 2-piece shaft. The 66 is 2-piece.

Although I must say I was impressed with how simple the flip kits are. I first was reading about them I couldn't figure out how they were doing flips to DROP the suspension because I was thinking of the shackle flips we use on the 4x4 stuff.

should be a two piece shaft.

the flips are pretty damn simple, reverse of the jeep flips that go axle under....lol

My HF scissor style transmission jack ended up shearing off a bolt so I went and bought the nice 2klb jack from HF. Slammed the new trans in place with a new kickdown cable & trans mount. Topped it off with fluid and took it for a drive, all seems well. Also played around with the timing and carb adjustments, fires right up now.

I noticed the drop spindles are for 1" or 1.25" rotors so I pulled a wheel to measure and confirm I have 1.25" rotors. Noticed quite a bit of bearing slop, rotors are smoked so I'll likely be ordering everything new up front.

Other thing I noticed while under the truck is how low these headers hang down, so low I'll be dragging them once this truck is slammed. Before I fab up new exhaust I'll be looking for some shortys or mid length headers.

Ah yes. Leaking center plug

Not sure what that is but it's leaking out of the center of the yoke. Is there an internal seal on the yoke? I'll have a new shaft built after I chop the frame down.

That trans jack is one of my favorite tools. Works great for fuel tanks too.

I think there's a small hole in the cap over the end of the slip portion of the yoke. It's supposed to keep it from trapping air and binding. Not sure how to stop a leak there. Or maybe I'm totally wrong. Been a long time since I had a slip yoke.
