1974 K10 Dirty Sancho

Saved from cruel and unusual punishment
Unfortunately, the video file you uploaded named First fire L29 could not be processed. Please upload a different video and try again.

He sent me the video in a text. I saved it to the phone and the back loaded it to yoopertube

Ok but I know we can do it with media on here. I have done it before and was nice but I haven’t had much luck with it lately? I haven’t tried in a while, maybe things have changed?

I swung through that media tab awhile back, there's a lot of shit in there

Hardly ever use it. I direct load all the pictures, and load all the videoos though YT.

Man that sounds really good dude!!!

I would ruin my underwear if that truck pulled up at a stop light, thumping like that, lookin like that, all cool and crap. Nice work man!

lol thanks Greg and I think it will sound a little better after some additional tuning steps. Idle was up around 1K rpms in that video and the engine wasn't at operating temp yet.

Over the last few days I've checked several more items off the list.
  • Fans wired (triggered off EFI) radiator bled and a coolant overflow tank was added.
  • Clutch/pedal linkage installed. Pretty cool the hole was already drilled on the firewall for the linkage to pass through, just had to unscrew the block off plate. I need to order replacement firewall boots so it's sealed off better.
  • Gear oil added to the SM465, NP205 and both axles. Also installed a new speedo cable.
  • Spicer lockouts installed.
  • My drill nicked the battery so I bought and installed a new one :doah:
  • Cleaned up and installed the front light harness and replaced the headlights because one had a broken contact.
  • Wired my old sunpro tach I had laying around, this also ties into the EFI wiring with a supplied signal wire.
  • Mounted the ECU and cleaned up the wiring under the dash.
Couple pics of the radiator and overflow setup. I still need to find (or fab) a solution for the top radiator mounts. The radiator and fans kept the engine at 180 or less (at the head) during a couple different heat cycles so that's cool.

After the fans and tachometer were wired the truck wouldn't start. I could tell it wasn't getting spark but I would get a random cough every now and again. So I watched the EFI display while cranking and noticed the voltage was 11.0-10.9 and the fuel pressure was dropping down into the 22psi range. After lots of double checking wires, running jumpers and adding more fuel I figured out the IGN+ feed for the EFI was losing voltage while cranking. This was being fed from the fuse block accessory port. I have no idea why the voltage started to drop to zero while cranking but it was an easy fix and something I was familiar with from previous EFI installs.

Since I had lockouts installed, front driveshaft and a clutch linkage I decided to take the opportunity to move the truck under it's own power. I have no brakes so we setup a couple wheel chocks as stops so I wouldn't hit the other K10 behind me or the fence in front. In 4 LO and 1st/reverse I was able to move it back and forth :saweet:

Through this process the truck developed a squeaking noise and I was able to confirm it was something on the serpentine setup since it went away when I removed the belt. Everything except the alternator is new so I removed the alternator and brought it to Oriellys for a spin test to see if it would make noise. The alternator passed with flying colors and it was very quiet so it was reinstalled. I found the old belt tensioner and the two idler pulleys and swapped those out without any change. At this point I'm not sure if the water pump is failing (new) or if the pressure from the serpentine belt is enough to make the alternator act up? It can be intermittent for whatever reason, I fired it up yesterday and one point and it was quiet. Refired it a few minutes later and it was squeaking again.

I started the truck at one point and forgot it was in gear. Damn thing jumped over the wheel chocks and pushed my gate partially open which pushed my flatbed trailer a couple feet down the driveway. Truck is fine, gate is wore out and flexed enough so it didn't break. :rotfl: My friend panicked a bit and fell into my stucco house so he was a little banged up. Good times.
