I'm really hoping that the app will bring me back.
There are lots of other sites still using vBulletin software. Go check one out if you're feeling nostalgic.

Somehow, I feel the same way. After the switch I just sort of drifted away. I'm still a member, and will remain one, but I miss the liveliness of the old forum...nowhere near the same number of people on at the same time and questions can go days without a response if you get one at all...sorry, but I just don't do the phone thing and probably never will...hate FaceBook too...
Man, I must have really missed something. I guess this change happened before I signed up, cause this works like any other forum for me. And I don't do the phone thing either, I still have a flip phone.
I am not knocking this forum in any way, don't misunderstand...but the same thing happened to my favorite JAWS forum...it's gone now
I can't explain it...can't exactly put my finger on it...but the old forum felt like a "meeting"...like there were a lot of other folks right there and when you asked a question or made a post it was real time...I guess it's like the difference between a CB radio and a cell phone...the cell phone has a lot of new tricks but the old cb sure felt a lot more cozy
The forum switch was in late September 2015. The site was down for a week and some of the regulars went downright stir-crazy and crashed the forum over at towrig.com. It was an amusing week.
I agree. I personally like the new software at least as much as the old software. But I sure don't like the reduction in useful answers. I've heard plenty of crickets when I ask questions, both before and after the switch. But a number of regulars left, the board has a different character now.
One thing contributing to the real-time feeling was that the old board identified who was viewing each thread at any given time. So I could know that Chief and Phil were waiting for my response. That's now gone, I have no idea who is reading this post.
