Lets see.

Ha, that steering wheel..... It had a big hideous cover on it when I got the truck. That lasted all of 30 seconds. This one is all gummy. Thats why someone put a cover on it. Honestly the style is fine but I thought if I used it and drove the truck the gummy-ness would go away. It hasn't went away. Does anyone have a fix for this? If I can't fix it am going to have to buy something else.

The rust exhaust tips weren't doing it for me. And the cheap mufflers sounded like an old county dump truck.

So in order to fix this I had got a set of thrush fully welded chambered muffs from my dad. At a great price...Free! I thought they would sound like flowmasters( which they do) but it would be better then a redneck dumptruck with rusty pipes.
So they had been on a truck and looked like crap, so I decided to have a little fun. Chevy orange to match the stripes. Might as well have do the pipes as well. So for $54.95 i have this.

IMG_20150619_180104514.jpg I also was looking at the white tailgate. The very white tailgate..... And I know LMC sell stickers reasonable so I ordered some up for 12 bucks. I also decided a touch of muscle car flair would be nice. So a can of semi gloss black was picked up and here is the result.

This is my dads 82... he ordered it new in 1981... full load, 3 speed on the column, ordered that way so he could change it to a super t10 4 speed, lowered, rallies widened to 10`s in the back, fronts are stock 8`s reversed for more off set.
He has the same steering wheel you got out of a 81 z28.

I had a sticky wheel like you have! :doah: Lacquer thinner took care of that! :thumb:

Nice, I like it!

I feel like mine is out of a bird? It has GT on the horn cap. Did firebird have a GT package in the 70s?

Nothing much is new. Just been driving the wheels off this thing all summer. Took it out for a fall cruise and a picnic.

Wow, first time seeing this. That is one sweet looking ride. :thumb:
Thanks!

Hopefully i'll be able to put some time and money into this over the winter. Not sure where I want to start. I have lots ideas swirling around in my head for this.

My wife asked me while we were cruising " what are your long term plans for this truck?"
My answer "for this to be my summer daily driver for the next 15 years."

Lets see.

Going back to this older post, what solvents have you tried so far? We've had good success with goo-gone.

My first instinct when cleaning things is always to reach for the gasoline can, but that is not always a good idea. :doah:

Rubbing alcohol does a fine job, and is usually kind to items being cleaned.
