1977 K10 Build Thread

i have some wiring issues and im hoping you guys can help me out. when i flip the turn signals on, they both light up in the back but are okay in the front. the driver side backup lamp only works when it feels like it. the passenger side backup lamp doesn't work at all. when i put the parking lights on none of the lights in the back work except the license plate light and when i put it in reverse the brake lights or parking lights come on.

Steering Box Time

does anybody know what the difference between a 77 box and an 80 box? is it the fittings for the power steering lines or is it the main shaft where the steering shaft connects to? or is it both? i have to replace my box and already have a new borgeson steering shaft for an 80 because i was told thats what year the box is. i only found out today that the box was bad.

at one point they changed the fittings from flare to o-ring. i am not sure what year that happened though. if you have the lines from your new box you can just take them off from the pump.

i don't have a new box, im going to order a rebuilt one from advance. i just don't want to buy a box thats not going to work with the steering shaft and the power steering hoses.

Finally Got a Tow Rig!

I finally picked up a tow rig for my 77 K10, my 56 savoy, and my 68 Barracuda! It is a 1987 GMC C35 rollback. I looked at it on 12-4-09 and by 12-7-09 it was sitting in front of my house! The guy I bought it from literally put it up for sale a few hours before I stopped by to look at it and after I bought it the guy was still getting calls about the truck! It has a 454, TH400, and a 14BFF. no air or power options... yet! The bed is a Chevron 17.5 aluminum bed and it has a stinger/wheel lift but it needs a hydraulic hose for the wheel lift to move in and out. Overall it is a really good truck, but it needs some little things like body work, light bulbs, shocks, and parking brake cables. Oh and did I mention I got one hell of a deal on it:D

damn, i could use one of those too. wait till you see what insurance costs though.

because im 19 years old, it doesn't cost much more than what i pay now for having my 77 insured.. and the rollback has commercial insurance on it too.
