I love the reg cab 1 ton dually's!!! There is something about them that is just so cool.
the Northwest has clean square bodies all over the place. That's why I bought mine in Washington. My exact truck in CO would have gone for probably over $6k...and I sure didn't pay that. It seems odd to me since WA and OR have so much rain, I would think that would make them rust away faster but for some reason it doesn't
The rain does not rot trucks out,its salt..vehicles even here in new england can last a long time if used in states that do not heavily salt roads, and use only sand...VT and NH vehicles are often in nicer shape than any found in MA,CT,RI...strangely, some I have bought from Cape Cod or the RI coast were the most solid, despite the salty air...
The '85 Suburban I bought back in late 2009 came from WA state originally--it had spent a year or two in VT ,then about the same length of time here in MA,just before I bought it,but it had sat mostly in a barn in VT,and the guy I bought it from only drove it a year or so,not much in winter either..
--the undersides were nice,it evidently had been heavily undercoated when new or nearly so,the frame rails still had original paint too,and under the rugs it smelled of fresh motor oil,the floors looked good,at least where they usually rot away first where I peeled the rug back--only rotten areas was inside the rear wheel arches, and tail gate was roached...so evidently efforts were taken to delay rust as long as possible..
After I let it sit outside since buying it,I have regretted deeply not having put it either in my garage or at least under a tent garage--after the worst winter we've ever had in 2015,the entire truck was buried under an 8 foot snow drift, and when it finally melted, the water went inside the doors & rockers, and the interior started getting funky from moisture---still in a lot better shape than most you see here though..
Now the rockers are like flaky pastry that crumble if you touch them (and I did, made huge holes the length of the truck in all of them, inside & out,I'm surprised the running boards are still firmly attached)...frame lost most of its paint, and is heavily surface rusted now--the rear wheel arches are bubbly now and you could poke holes in them probably now too...

..
I would like to have a rust free truck, but after owning a few that were nearly so,then watch them turn back into iron ore in a few years depresses me so badly,I think I'd have to move to the state it came from where it wont rot away ,I'm tired of seeing good trucks turn to

here..
