78SWB submitted a new Build:

The California K5

I was going to wait to make this build thread till the K5 was in my possession, but I’m extremely bored at work right now so here we go. Hinze found this on a FB group within minutes of being posted with a guy wanting to know how much it’s worth. I quickly messaged him until we had a deal.

He bought it 3 years ago from a guy in Sacramento, CA, where I assume it has spent most of its life. It’s now in Western Nevada about to be picked up by transport to bring it to me in Nebraska.

I don’t know a lot about it or the history. It needs a decent amount of work since I believe 2 owners ago started ripping it apart. Lots of interior stuff missing that I’ll have to source. The guy I bought it from didn’t really touch it. Supposedly the engine is bad, but I’ll have to check it out.

Unfortunately there’s no SPID in the glove box so I’m hoping I can find some information on it somehow, but if not I won’t lose any sleep over it. According to vin it’s a 305.. who knows.

I’m 99% sure this is going to get the cammed 5.3 sitting in the garage and maybe the nv4500. Going to to make it a nice driver. Been looking for a nice two tone 73-74 k20 but found this for cheap instead so I’ll go with it. That said I’m going to give it the look I want. Plan to use the early hubcaps 69-75 with some M1009 wheels if I can find some. I’m also going to fit an 73-74 grille because they just look so good. That will probably drive the purists crazy but I don’t care. There’s one spot of rust that I know of behind the drivers rear tire and I’ll get that fixed once it’s drivable. Probably do a 2” lift as well. Not sure if I’ll sell the ‘88 or make that the new off-road toy.

This is cool!

but both K5’s are too nice to wheel.

You planning on Tuttle much this year?

This one won’t get wheeled. I haven’t decided what I want to do with the ‘88 yet. I probably won’t be at Tuttle much this year if at all since I don’t have anything to take.

I mean, you can follow on the main trails and not mess the ‘88 up. But I get that’s it’s temping at that point lol.

I don’t think they wheel anymore either.
They still have them though. That’s the difference of having acres of square storage. You can just let them sit until you love it again.
Hell just ride with @85k5witha6.2
You guys could all ride in the Escalade with heated seats and cooled cup holders and shit.
