1978 K5 LS/NV4500

I know the rear is narrower from the factory on purpose, probably to improve handling stability. But has anyone actually experienced ill effects from these spacers?
Allegedly. I personally think it’s just cause that’s what they had laying around or was cheapest to produce.

I had them on my last k5 without an issue. If anything it might not turn as sharp?

After driving this a couple days in a row on warm days I realized I needed some working windows. This was originally power window and locks but the power stuff is so junky on these trucks and I prefer manual. You can see on mine where the mounting holes are all bored out from bolts coming lose from the heavy motor and regulators. Everything was going to need replaced.

So I decided to change it all over to manual. Plus the manual regulator mounts higher in unf**ked holes too so that’s a plus. Removed everything from the doors including harness beside the door latches. Ordered all new seals and wing vent rebuild kit. New manual regulators and removed the lock actuator. Rebuilding the vents is not fun.

You should do like a semi. Make the driver side manual, and the passenger side electric (they were generally air...).

Yup. I have gotten to the point where I like to be able to operate the passenger window with a button. Unlocking it with a button is great too!
But I drove early nineties KWs with dual electric windows and mirrors, so I may have become spoiled. I hated the mixers with a manual right hand window.

The rivets they give you are junk and a huge pain to mushroom out correctly. Especially the pivot rivet for the glass. Have to hit it real hard 1/4” away from glass. Definitely need another person there to help hold it too. Next time I’ll send them off or buy rebuilt ones.

Oh you rebuilt yourself? I was going to go the lazy route and buy rebuilt. The removal and reinstall itself is fairly isnt it?

Props to you. I tried to rebuild mine and got one disassembled and said screw it and bought a set of decent used ones in much better shape than my originals... Lol

I need to do regulators on the 74. What brand did you go with and how did they fit?

Never could get my fuel gauge to work. Traced it to a bad fuel sending unit that I bought new.
