1979 K-10 Stepside Shortbox - Beagle's Build -

In other news the inline tube order showed up, lines look good. And everything was well packaged and shipping was quick. Even though I don't need them right away.

My plan was to get this back into the shop ( currently in my father's barn)
And get a good day in on back Friday and the following Saturday, looks like I now have Thanksgiving on that Saturday. Now it looks like I am going to have wood to cut on Friday. Along with possible some black Friday shopping on Friday morning. ( Depending on what the hardware, farm stores, and home improvement stores have going on)
Need a few thing tool wise I have been waiting to pickup. Have to see what happens.
Otherwise it might wait until Christmas to get back to actual work because every weekend in December is already booked.

I forgot 1979 too.

I know it is just the frame but still.

I still consider it an 79, even though the frame is the only thing left, even if I did a frame swap I would still say its a 79, because that's what I started with. And I used the original vin in the 84 cab, and the title.

Had some time yesterday to screw around with my blazer tank mounting in the back, millions of ways to mount on in the back of these trucks, I had previously had some 2x2x1/4 square tube as cross members, not sure if I still want to use them or build something else.

Really hate the filler neck on the blazer tank.

In other news I played around with my 11,500 superwinch I bought new a few years ago and only used twice since. ( Colorado elk hunting) when I power it up the solenoid clicks but the motor doesn't run? I currently have this set up on a two inch receiver mount. I was going to hard mount it. But I guess I need to figure out why it doesn't work.

In other news my cyber Tuesday order showed up. Just a few little odds and ends. But it all counts.IMG_20161204_102538307.jpg

Lastly I have been thinking pretty hard about the usage of this truck going foward, as a primary camping rig.
Ax, shovel, hi lift, fuel cans mounting are all pretty well documented, I am wondering what kind of semi permanent chain saw mounting solutions you guys may have seen.

My dads buddy growing up had a pretty nice steel box L bracketed into the drivers side behind the wheel well, it set back in pretty good and unobtrusive. I don't know what kind of case it was but it was a side insert for a smaller 16"? Bar mcoullough. I was a kid so I didn't pay much attention

Wow, I had never thought about building a steel case/ box. That might be the ticket. My saw isn't small. So that's why I don't want it bouncing around the back. Plus I need something lockable. I don't care about locking my ax or shovel, those aren't worth anything to sell and most criminals don't have much use for things like that. Even the hi lift. But the saw needs to be locked.

His sat up at an angle actually mounted to the back side of the whee well. This was on a swb 72 k10 4x4 with a camper. The blade part sat angled up.

If I recall the whole back opened up and it had a latch to close, it might have been homemade but I don't think it was. Couldn't be hard to make if you have the skills.

I just found this, might have pick this this up. I don't run a husky saw, but I bet it would work, I like the idea of all my supplies in one box.

Oh I guess I didn't put in there I would build like a metal cage that the plastic case would slide into and have a locking door.

Maybe, or just build a metal box like that one.

Hey, you have done enough damage today... Bumping this won't get it done any quicker.

But yes. It's still sitting next to the 76 for winter hibernation.
