1979 K30 Pile of Hillbilly Crap.

My box is fine. It will just get painted with min to no body work. It will be fine Chris. You can look pretty at the bottom of the hill and I will just climb it.

Haha yes, your truck can climb a lot better than mine, we already know this. There are like a million of these old trucks around, I thought why not find some box sides that didn't have a bunch of holes in them to paint. It's your truck though I know, it was just a suggestion. To each their own, right? :)

I wasn't trying to be a dick, the cab isn't as nice as yours. Just better than what I have. We all know I will just wreck it too but for now I thought we may squirt a little paint on it. Red knows how and he said we don't have to make it a show car. Think Klovers Blazer. Rachels dad has a red and silver box but I am not sure I want to do all the work again. Plus the fact that my box was so bad it didn't bother me to cut it up but most of her dads are half way OK.

haha yeah I know. Mine isin't nice, its full of bondo. Im sure it was a lot of work to do that, but either way it will look good and be sweet to see the new one come together.

Do you have any more pics of it?

I am thinking it will get rock sliders (most likely built into the rockers) and a cage when it goes on. The dually is getting finished first.

Not sure if it's been discussed, but on page 7 there's a pic that shows a bit of your rear DS and it looks like you've got a carrier bearing? That seems like a sweet way to get rid of my giant 8ft DS, and have a handy crossmember to mount a traction bar to.

Do I have that right? Or am I crazy...

Yes it has a carrier bearing. Works good to keep your DS off the rocks as well.

I keep going through the shaft from the carrier to the differential. One I beat on a rock at tuttle, the next one was twisted off pulling a tractor pull sled when the first 454 had a turbo and made 950lbs of torque, the next one was smashed in half on my bachelor party. I have one in and one as a spare right now. I just keep collecting them because from the carrier to the diff is the same on subs and all of the pick ups I have found. There is 2 different splines on the slip yoke part. I would use the fine spline if it was me since the course is harder to find and that is what I have. Should be easy to come by. I just need a real nice machinest type to make me one out of sced 160 or something light like that.

I'm quite interested, especially if it's all factory bolt on crap. I can probably hook you up with some mill or lathe work if you get me materials.....

It is all bolt one. I have pieces but I don't have have a whole set up. We would have to make the tranny to carrier driveshaft.

I see. Next time I'm at u-pull it I'll try to investigate these driveshafts.

As far as the jack shaft (thats what I'm gonna call it) just let me know. Inland is ridiculous, but Dean's Radiator does good work much more reasonably, and if he's got something used in stock that will work he knocks a whole lot off of the price tag. Good guy.

I need someone to fit a yoke into a piece of pipe. I am not going to balance it. FYI a 2wd shaft will work good on your truck, I would make my own trans to carrier shaft.

Since pipe is not really ment for that service not sure what to use. Also on sure If I should get seamless or not.

As long as it's steel and not iron I would think it'd be fine. from the sound of my big ass rear DS it seems to be some 1/8 wall 4" OD stuff. Or somewhere in that neighborhood. Maybe someone that knows more will chime in..

I have some lemon shaft I am saving for my new front shaft once I get a doubler.

Are those broken rears? If I had to wager a guess on the first thing I'm gonna break its my 1310 front Ujoint. Ugh.
