1979 K30 Pile of Hillbilly Crap.

I have yet to break a front shaft or Ujoint and the 2" rear did twist off with A LOT of wheel hop.

haha well that's reassuring I suppose. Guess the Army didn't think big Ujoints were important with the 6.2 limited to only 3600 RPM.. Or whatever it is.

Mine has seen a dyno confirmed 4000. I don't think anything came factory with the big ujoint in the front. Mine is using a 73 3/4 auto front shaft.

Gotcha.. Do you run flanges or lockouts? I've always wondered if my front shaft/yoke seal/bearing could take the constant spinning..

I run stock spicer lockouts. Some 60s had 203s running them so they spun for 1000s of miles, bearings get oiled better spinning.

Seems legit. A lifted 60 with a 40lb driveshaft though? I might just have to engage the lockouts and leave the TC in neutral to see how much noise she makes next time I get out on the highway...

Why do you need a 40lb driveshaft for the front? I just want a heavy rear so it gets dented less. I am going to use lemon shaft so it has a long slip for flex (what little I have).

40 lbs is just what it ended up being.. its solid spline shaft from the front yoke almost all the way to the TC at full stuff, and 6" of female spline welded to tube that goes the same distance. the SOB literally can double its length. 42 degree AG CV.. It's pretty badass- then there's the 1310.

From what I have grown up with and heard, with lockouts, you are supposed to run a few miles every once in awhile with the hubs locked in to lubricate the bearings and keep them moving around in the races a lil bit. Doesnt seem like a bad idea and cant see how it would hurt.

Went and looked at that blue k5 in Wahoo I was telling you about.. What a pile.

Only useful thing on it was the full vert top. :(

If you really want a full convert I will tell you where the one I know is at. It isn't super cherry but I looked under it and it was pretty decent. Rockers still there and everything.

Sure! Like I said it's pretty much a pipe dream at this point.. But hopefully when I get my own place away from baby's mama I can swing something big like that ;)

some machine screws to hold the throttle plates on the mixer and some pipe fittings. Time is what I am lacking.
