1979 Suburban with blazer removable top

That looks great man!

BTW, is that VCT tile in the garage? How is that holding up? Been meaning to do it in mine.

Not sure the brand of plastic tile, they were installed already when i bought the place. They are single tiles that dont appear to be peal and stick. It looks like they rolled the adhesive on and put the tiles down. They are easy to clean, if you are welding over them throw down a sheet of metal or something else they will turn black/brown. Im gonna borrow my friends floor polisher and use a scrotchbrite attachment with some comet and it cleans off the paint over spray and returns it to normal then I just put a coat of floor wax on and it keep them looking good. Almost got half the truck wet sanded and then i gotta go back with a finer grit and finish up with compound and polish.

Well I wet sanded one side of the truck. I used 1000 grit then 1500, then 2000. I should have just started with 1500 because the 1000 left some scratches that will never come out of the single stage paint. Thinking down the road I made just wet sand that whole thing with 800 and shoot a new coat of red with a clear coat but not right no im tired of my amature painting adventure. Just need to get the paint done so i can find out why my new motor is making a copper field out of the oil fiter and has a rod knock at 200 miles. Also I bought a airbrush about a year ago and havent played with it yet so for my first time airbrishing I played with a helmet I painted the same color as my truck.

Looks awesome man. Great job. Can't wait to win lotto so I can do my burb like that too.

Cool mods - I especially like the top. I might have to summon the courage to try something like that someday...

Well got my engine pulled out about 2 weeks ago to see why the new engine ate the bearings. I brought the rods and crank to another machine shop and the crank need more than a polish the other shop did. It was out of round so I justed ordered a reground one. A couple of the rods were resized slightly to small so I had them honed correctly and put the money pit back together. Dropping the engine back in the truck monday. Well i went back to the original machine shop to ask about the warranty on there machine work and they said the rods ar smaller now because when the engine got hot they shrunk the metal. Cant believe these people build engine for a living with crappy excuses like that. Well never going back to california street machines.

Thats good info to know. Not many good engine shops out there period. Sounds like another crappy one to stay away from.

Nice only thing missing is a snorkel and if you can do what you did you can make a hell of a nice snorkel!

FAQ
1. What model is your snorkel? Where did you get it?
I equipped this vehicle with a Safari Snorkel. Sadly, you cannot obtain them for the Suburban. However, you can purchase the 80 Series Toyota models that most closely match the body style and specific contours of the Suburban after heating and molding.

I was thinking about that but maby I should run my through the fire wall into the interior. Nah. I got my engine in today nad it sounds good. Hopefully no more copper in the oil filter when I take it apart in a couple days.

Nice dude, now you must do some poser pics for us, I'd like to see a profile shot to get a better look at the top.
