1980 gmc.. build thread.. im back.. post 438. :/

alright. i just noticed you gotta update your sig since you don't have the 355 anymore.
haha thanks for lettin me know:p: i got the sky mfg crossover, the arm is beefy as heck, but their shipping sucks. i got my crossover 2.5 weeks later:rolleyes:

have you had any problems with yours? i was thinking about doing that with a rock rod and the sky mfg kit, but i wasn't sure the stock knuckles would hold up espicially if i added hydro assist

mine turns out to be great, i just need the bolt on brace, crossover adds more stress to the steering frame. already have the bolt on brace. just havent installed it yet. your stock knuckle on the D60 will be good, 95 percent of the time i seen the knuckle break is from hard core wheeling, But if ur 77 is gonna be a tow rig, light trail rig, u will be fine. i am getting a hydro assist too if i keep the truck. hydro relieves the stress on the steering frame area too. which is why theres alot of full time off road truck gets full hydro, when street legal is assist.

thanks man! wish it was a better looking truck tho. too many different colors.

haha mines the same way. maybe we could start a club.. longbed 73-80 chevys and gmcs that are too many different colors  i might just wait till i get all the money together and pull the axle out and redo it. dedenbear racing knuckles, 35 spline axles with ctm joints, drive flanges maybe, more gearing, aftermarket diff cover, 1350 pinion yoke, sky mfg crossover steering, rockstomper rock rod, west texas offroad redneck ram hydro assist... and the list goes on and on. of course i have to do the 14BFF to match then:crazy:

Yep it was the black sammi for $5000. think the price is high for not having a cage in it.

So it went from half-ton to 1-ton, now back to half-ton? Oh well gotta do what ya gotta do...

nope. going 3/4 ton. i got another d60 but its overkill for what im doing with it. i may aswell scrap the truck, my dad wants it for himself for plowing.. i lost interest in off roading. if i ever build another truck its gonna be a k5 since i have a family now.

well im slowing putting together my truck *again* i never got around to get rid of it, love it too much to get rid of it, so i got a d44 from a member here, 4 inch lift springs. now takin apart my wrecker truck to put the plow, etc on the 80 gmc. so yep im slowing bring her back to life.

as of now it has a stock 350. sold the 355. same built t350 transmission, np205. 14ff rear, d44 front, 410 gears.
