1981 K20

6" lift. 3/4 ton axles.
You couldn't angle the shocks forward like I did? Or inboard?

I could, but than I'd be spending time making custom mounts while making the shock less effective by putting it at an angle. All for what? To have a longer travel shock on a truck that only has 6" of travel? Nah not worth it. Sell the 14"s. buy some 10"a. Bolt em on and live my life. Happy days me thinks.

Good call. I really didn't have that option with those stupid shocks I bought lol.

Yeah well mine are off the shelfers lol

So doing some thinking here about this shock situation

26" static

12"
30 = 4" droop
18. = 8" compression

14"
34 = 8"droop
20 = 6" compression

I may just go ahead and keep the damn 14"a that I have. After measuring it seems like that would give me the best compromise without having to worry about exceeding the travel and blowing out shocks.
I think I just panicked last night cuz it was late and when look at a 14" body shock compared to how much shaft was showing it was teeny tiny. But doing the tape work says it'll be right where I need it. So I think that's the plan.

Took the truck for a drive today even with no shocks out back. Went to see my local friendly neighborhood smoggy man. Got a clean bill of health for the old pig. Get my paperwork tomoro so hopefully in the next week or two ill get the stockers and paperwork. So gotta get finishing up on a few things and get down to hollister in the next week or two

Your truck is awesome I've been watching your build since the beginning just never really chumming in but it looks awesome and you've always made quick progress. Wish I could say the same for my build haha:doah:

Thanks man. Don't worry. The last build I did on my k5 took 2 years. This one is only moving faster bcuz the wife said she's tired of builds dragging on and is funding parts so its easier

Few updates as I sit here at the vet with the big dumb dumb. I got the rear end all situated.
Moved the shackle flip back to the original holes. Current angle is just past vertical which I'm not happy with but we will see how it goes. Axle isn't moved as far back as I was hoping for still might have to trim the front of the rear fender we will see on that

Pick up my tags on Monday so as of Monday afternoon ill be legit to wheel!
Also this morning working on the front turn signals. Got the first one cut in working on splicing it into the factory wiring. Of course the first wire I splice to came off in my hand lol. Apparently there was a splice further up the loom that was cut, twisted by hand and wrapped with electrical tape. Ah quality lol

Also got a "free" upgrade this morning.
When I bought the truck was told the trans was th350. Haven't even looked at it bcuz I wasn't worried since I knew I'd be changing it out.
Well sliding around today I just took a peek at the modulator and sure enough it's a th400 instead. Well sweetness. Much better for me. On the other hand, now the 27spline 205 I have is no longer a bolt on swap so mightaswell turn that one into a doubler this winter lol

LEDs and turn signals wired up.

Both. It's a three wire light so it has blinker and marker. Just cut off the factory bulb housing and spliced the wires into the new led. Just took a 3/4" hole cut into the plate

does it blink faster since the change to LED? I've been wanting to change my grill blinkers to something more compact and clean

So working on putting in the deaver springs this morning.
Pulling off the old springs and these fall off on my face

Yeah I'm thinking that might be contributing to my saggy front end LOL

So couple more issues on the morning
Deavers are mother flipping tall.

Make my shackle flip with 6" shackles and a zero rate look teeny tiny

Also. Pulling my angle shim off the old spring packs, damn thing snapped in half. So I'm packing it in for the day until I can get new shims ordered.

We're they steel shims or aluminum? And holy crap those are tall lol.

Gonna make the front lower, or raise the rear?
