I thought the purpose of the panhard was to not allow the axle to go left and right?

I got some reading to do tonight.
 
If you do it right, you should all but never notice the bump steer on the road. Fords, dodges, and jeeps all have panhard bars and have millions of vehicles on the road with yuppie drivers.
 
Limited travel. Panhard bars are almost flat. Try getting 16 inches of travel out of a dodge or ford and watch what happens.
 
Ok so let me fully understand this. with the suspension completely together and you cycled the springs could see the knuckles turn? That would be bumper steer?

He said earlier it was under a turn and suspension cycling. As the drag link wants to stay in one spot, yet the knuckle is turned and now at a different length and angle...
 
It also has bump PUSH. The body will move right compared to the front end as the suspension compresses from a jump. First couple of times it was weird. I don't notice it anymore.
 
How hard do you honestly need to be running on the road to notice bump steer? Sounds unlikely under normal circumstances... I know you are not normal wade.. not saying its bad, just a fact :whistle:
 
Got it, for a home brew bump steer measurement tool you can clamp a piece of angle iron or wood to each sides of the rotor. As you go from full bump to max drop, you can measure the distances from the pieces you clamped.

I can make suspension work, but cant figure out this stupid multi quote thing.

Adam, I have had the front end unloaded on pavement. But I have also done it on graded, compacted dirt roads. You can feel it. And correcting a steer at 65mph when the truck is going around a curve, is different.

Then we can start talking about roll steer.

Ill be listening. You know I love this stuff. No way ill be doing it on mine any time soon... But I still like to learn
 
One subject at a time, I hope more are listening to all of this.

Next up I want to read ackerman and understand it then we can move on to roll steer. So much evolved in a setup like this, I had a buddy tell me to just copy a jeep. :doah::haha:

Hit the quotation marks next to the quote button, then on the last one you want to quote hit the actual quote button.
 
I found this program called susprog3d, has anyone ever heard of it? seems to be pretty cool and might help out

Sweeeet. That looks WAAYYY easier than making every part in cad for the same end result lol.
