I hope you get it figured out. By the way, I really like the way those tires look on skinny wheels...

I'm not buying it until you do a leak down test.

Also, I can't quite believe that it wasn't running right. 230 to the wheels at 4800 would probably be around 250-260 at the wheels at 5800. Which would out you every bit of 330-350 horse at the crank which is within reason for your mild cam.

You said you had clogged injectors. Maybe one still a little clogged? When you posted your burn out vid it sounded like there was a small exhaust leak which can also sound just like a lifter tick at idle. I'm also not buying that you have one "dead valve" out of 16.

I wouldn't of been able to take it, I would of pulled the valve covers immediately.

A buddy of mine had a similar issue after he installed a cam in his LS. Ultimately, he stripped out the threads on a rocker, which killed that cylinder. I think this happened because he started tightening down the rockers before having all the rockers/bolts installed.

Pull off that valve cover and have a look.

The 200hp was in 2nd gear, tuner said add another 20-30hp sense the gear wasn't 1:1 so at 4800rpm I made 230hp on 7cylinders

7 Cylinders is all you need for Moab.

Fix it when you get back. Work the rest of your checklist. :deal:

Agreed! The original engine that was put in this truck in 1982 probably had 155hp at the crank! You have near double that I'm sure and it sounds like it runs very smooth. Too smooth to have a fully dead cylinder. Run it!

I would fix it. Pull the valve covers, check if all the valves are opening and none of the rockers are loose or sloppy when you turn it over.

Which cylinder is cool exhaust tube? Pull the plug, is it wet or bone dry? If its wet check for spark, if its bone dry swap an injector and see if the problem moves.

If the valvetrain looks good, fuel and spark is there, then I would be doing compression and leakdown.

I would not run an engine on a trip with a dead cylinder unless I didn't care if I did more damage and I had a way home. If that's the case, then have at it.

Well said.

I probably should have said: "Put this effort at the BOTTOM of your checklist, and make sure that all your other REQUIRED work is done first!!!!.... Then if you still have some time left, go back and work on this again"

I could see this becoming a huge downward spiral of wasted hours, at the expense of other stuff that HAS to happen to be ready for BB2015. Who knows? Maybe someone at the event can help you troubleshoot it and fix it quickly?..... it would be a shame to become so fixated on this problem that you completely blow your shot at BlazerBash.

I'm not going to run it on 7 cylinders and it sounds like something with a lifter and a valve. I'm almost 100% positive it is.

I'll find out later.
