I wish I could do that, but I cant weld. Although this would give me a learning experience that might be worth it.

Learning how to weld should be on any self-respecting gearheads "bucket list"... :waytogo:

You need to learn eventually, Might As Well be now?

Yes I eventually want to learn to weld. :thumb:

I tried pulling off the LS harmonic balancer.... Managed to bend the bolt for the 3 jaw puller, and even my 3 foot breaker bar was bending. :eek1:

Tomorrow I will borrow a better puller and bring home my impact gun...

Why do you need the balancer off? But hey while its off you "might as well" do a cam ;)

Must have forgotten about that... nice cam choice, great truck cam.

I would have pointed you to a bigger cam ;) but that will have great street manners.

Everyone knows I want a bigger cam, but for a future DD and some towing added into it, I think it will have great street manors.

Just so everyone knows, I told KTM when he was over I wanted to make blazer bash 2013:thumb: But I need to take a week off for a wedding in June.

I wonder if using a pneumatic impact wrench on the puller would be better than using the breaker bar.

fyi some newer balencers have a cup in the bottom were the bolt seats and you cant use a reg old school puller.

i have seen special pullers listed for ls stuff.

That is my plan to use a impack gun. I work at a Chevy dealer so when I go into work I will borrow a specific puller.

True that, I have oiled the threaded part and had good luck doing it that way, but doing it by hand is much safer. Kinda like putting pan bolts in with an impact, can be done, but usually there are safer ways of doing it.

Got the balancer off today and returned the crappy one to auto zone... Engine should be painted up this weekend and possibly going in Monday depending on how far I get along. I need to fix the frame with the front rear shackles.

It doesn't look as lame as I thought it would. Pretty subtle actually. I think having the bumper painted to match the truck helps it look better. I was picturing a regular chrome '81 front bumper.

I say go for it!

Well yesterday was a one year anniversary of this thread.

Figured I would give a pic of what it looked like then vs now.

That is water on the trailer from the engine from when I blew the freeze plug.

So much different and a lot more to go.
