This might not help much...have you thought about buying a 4l80? I'm thinking even a fairly used one may outlast just cause...

Or getting another 4l60 or 65 and doing a slow build with the assistance of youtube/internet...

Just ideas.

Anyone ever pull the trans out of a triumph spitfire??? After pulling the 900 tiny bolts out and remove the trans tunnel you simply reach in and lift it out! This may be a good option for you! Lol

My brother had one of those. We all loved how the hood flipped up and gave good access to the engine. Though I never had to work on the tranny. It did live up to its reputation of frequently breaking, though. :doah: Which contributed to its premature demise and my brother selling it off quite cheaply. :1zhelp:

I spent a few hours with it on the lift trying to figure out how to squeeze it between the frame rails before I figured it out. Stupid positive ground electrical system too! Other than the breaking down issues it was kind of a cool car.

I technically have a 4l65e in it already. A 4L80E would require me to swap the input shaft on the tcase, drive shafts and re flash the exm.

Sorry for not reading back bit has every trans had the same problem or different each time?

A buddy once went through 7 transmissions in his old Chevelle, he ended up having so much crank end play that it would pull the converter from the pump and kill the trans.

1st one converter came apart, 2nd one was a used pull out and twisted a main shaft. 3rd one not sure yet but I suspect smoked.clutches.
