Has k20 front brakes and the original c10 prop valve. Really hoping I can get away with new rotors, pads and a prop valve to dial in the rear. I might play with a new master cylinder if i feel it needs more.What do you have for front brakes? Did you do anything w/ the factory combo valve?
I believe right now I have the jb6 brakes and I have very little brake in the rear. I have had to hit them hard once and the front end took the majority and it shook the wheel both ways.Looks like there are 2 brakes for the 3/4 ton. jb6 and jb7. Different piston size and it makes a difference - 2-15/16 vs 3-5/32 - about 15% difference in piston area... Need to figure out what you have. You'll want to gut that combo valve, esp to get the residual valve out. That's just gonna burn up those disks in the back holding pressure on them. Once you gut that see how it feels - and then you may want to look at MC/prop valve.
Believe it is a 2 piston caliper. The rear defiantly has fluid to them and a good stream. It took Shawn and I a while to get them working with no air. I really think a prop valve would work but I keep reading horror stories about disk swaps.I don't remember how many piston are in those rear calipers, but I am betting that you need a different master to get enough to them, but I am not an expert on this at all.
Maybe you just need to work on the combination valve, then bleed them very thoroughly. ???
Hmmm, what do you really recommend, what did you so with yours? How well does it preform?That combo valve not only has a residual valve, but it also has a delay built in and some restrictions. Gotta gut that thing. You may still need a bigger MC because of the volume needed, if your combo valve is fighting you, it's most defiantly going to cause problems - even w/ the bigger MC.
FYI there are 2x2" pistons - totalling 6.3 sq" of area and the fronts are 6.7 sq" So there's some semblance of balance, but each vehicle is going to need some tuning.
