He needs to change the thread title to The Dyslexic Build Thread.
You don't need that much thread exposed, only like 1/4" max on each end. We have links that have three threads showing on each end and have been able to make the adjustments easy, It's also way easier to trim a bit off the end than to make new links.
Keep those links just pull the spacers out a little and have them welded up by a proficient welder, they will probably like having a bit of a "gap" to fill even with the beveled sides.
Sounds like a plan, the measure twice cut once plan didn't get executed well on this. I pushed the threaded ends in all the way, I thought the chamfer on those would be enough to get a good bite.
I figured sense the Johny Joint had full thread contact it was ok. What welding wire do you recommend? I have .035 and the welder who will be doing this says 1 11? He is Brazilian and hard to understand at times and he worked union for 25 years welding Phoenix buildings.
Should be going over in about a hour, having a band saw to cut the links today. Cutting it with a cut off wheel is kind of scary.

Hell I don't know, the same dude that welded up your brackets has welded up all my steel link arms. I give him a tacked together link he welds it up.
I think the standard wire size in use is .030 in Lincon and Miller 220V welders set to just below nuclear blast. But you have to know how to use that.
I know ORD has some new fangled big time haul ass you better be a welder,machine that sounds like a Duck farting when it's in use. It works well for sheet goods but sucks for round stuff last I heard.
Haven't been in the shop in a few months.
Ben, sence you missed one thing, I am going to ask a stupid question. Are 1/2 of the link ends reverse threads? If so, make sure you have one of each on each link.
I've never made that mistake.
Also, tack it all together and install it all before welding. Yes it is time consuming, but it will catch an issue before it happens and becomes a big problem.

Yes I believe I have it correctly If you are facing the link dead on I believe it's correct the left side is left thread, the right side is right hand thread.
Because I'm a dork I didn't tack them yet.

I hope so. But looking at the dead on is not the same as from the side. If he said fronts are right and rears are left, or opposite, I would be really happy.

Good I feel better. Looks good. You might want to gets ORD's input just to be sure.
Hoping they come in a little bit, I'll hopefully be calling or emailing soon to see what they recommend for wire size welding these things together. Safety first. 
Your .035 is fine. Thats all I've ever used. My brother runs that in your welder all the time. Get to welding.
