You need to pm dueling and have him make you a video as to why that happens. But yes, do keep that in mind. What jekq is saying is that because your arms are pretty much level to the ground at ride height, as the axle travels up, it will also be traveling rearward because of the arc that the arms follow.
 
That's how all linked suspensions with multiple arms do. Maybe if you made a one link suspension the axle could stay perfectly centered but that's not possible on the front. You're getting there. Keep it up.
 
You've got an awesome engine and some sweet suspension there. It's just a matter of getting it all working. It's going to be da bomb when it's through though. Plus you'll probably have the longest build thread on this site. Won't that be excititng. :laugh:

That isn't intentional either.:doah: once I get done with this custom stuff it will go together fast.
 
Ben is in 5th place for thread length. Just behind Duelings. But his is mostly fluff. At least this one is mostly tech of some kind.
 
Not looking to be places with people on length just looking for a quality build.

How important is having the shock in the middle of the stroke stride height? I think for clearance I want 5 up and 9 down.
 
Yep. This way, for one thing, it can follow the terrain, but for another, it's that mu h more compression when it lands to get back to ride height. That might sound dumb but it's right in my mind.
 
That does make sense to me as well. I briefly talked to Chris at Ord and he mentioned ideally you want ride height in the center of the stroke.
 
I'm sure it could be argued many ways. I think somewhere between, 40/60, 60/40, and centered would work just fine for you.
 
I would prefer more droop then bump travel. It will help keep the tires out of the fenders with low lift.
 
I saw it and going to try it and see where it puts me.

These trucks were not designed with shock hoops in mind. Such a pain getting everything to function correctly.
 
So it looks like I can only get 4.5 inches of up travel before it hits the heim on the steering arm...

That would be 32% bump travel and 68% droop? Does that even sound acceptable?
