Being quite the whore tonight with the posting here, sorry guys.

Think instead of doing shock hoops I'm going to do towers instead... Their literally is zero room in these trucks and after talking with Stephen today he pretty much confirmed my theory. I don't think I could make the a/c master and booster serviceable with hoops in the way. I have been playing with 2 sets of shock hoops I have and towers seem the way to go, Would be quick and easy to do.

I really like these but they are pricey.

http://www.chassisunlimited.com/product/shockmounts/weld-on-frame-shock-towers.html At the top I would cut a tube in half then weld it across the opening for the cross bar to grab onto.

Another pricey option.

Are you 100% sure that your axle is plumb and centered under the frame? :dunno:

It's really easy to be off by 1/4"-1/2" or more with even a minor adjustment to the PHB length. That would explain why that mounting pad isn't lining up as expected.

For clearance you can either build a new, higher frame rail on the passenger side (BTDT) or bend the PHB for clearance (BTDT)....or lift the whole truck higher. Yeah, I didn't want to do that either.

I'm mystified why this ORD bolt-in kit is taking so long to install. Did you throw away the directions, or just change everything about the way they told you to install it? :dunno:

It isn't a complete bolt in kit, although it's a very good kit it does require some fabrication and link knowledge. I'm also starting with a 2wd frame which could be causing some issues as well. I do still have the instruction, they get you in the ball park range and it's up to you to complete it.

I can say from my install that start-to-finish, it took 2 weeks in my garage while only working evenings (after work) and weekends. Basically, the ORD kit is about as bolt on as you can get, but you still need to be a good welder and fabricator to finish it completely. If someone is not a good welder or fabricator, they can still do a lot of the work, but they'll want to tow it to a professional to finish welding things up and make the shock hoops. No shame in doing that.. you don't want your front axle to fall out while driving down a busy road :-)

Maybe he's running into issues with the whole 2WD frame thing?? I used Dirty Dingo mounts to move my motor back 2 inches, ran the Holley "swap" oil pan, put one bend in my PHB, and was able to put the axle tubes on the frame without issue.

I'm almost positive it's a big combination of my parts. Diy4x motor mounts, TNA cross member, 2wd frame. I started with a blank frame and having to move everything around.

Got off work late today but got to mess with it for about 45 mins before the sun went completely down.

Took the drag link off flipped it around and used it as a pan hard bar, got to love same lengths.

Just as Greg has been beating in my head the axle wasn't centered, It was off about half a inch or less...

Getting this much bump travel comes with problems, the bump pads go on the outside of the frame but the diff smacks into the cross member.

Not sure If I should shave a little more off the cross member or the diff or just completely make a new one...

Nope it doesn't , funny thing is I sold it to Chevy305 because It didn't clear the oil pan with the first set of motor mounts. :doah:

I do have some metal laying around in the back of the truck already bent up in a press brake I bet I could make a cross member pretty easily that would look like the ORD member.

:haha:

Talk about the irony train... I actually plan on installing it before the Dune Party.

And to think, you almost had this thing ready to roll with the leaf springs! You just have to keep doing what you have been.

Leaf springs are to boring and I wanted this kit to start with.:thumb:

Finally made it to my goal mark of getting enough cash to paint this thing. Hopefully by this time next month the suspension is completely done and on it's way to get painted.

Been in talks with TNA about the "winch cradle" and we came up with this to adapt to my 2wd frame. I want to eventually put a winch on a removable carrier to go from front to back and not having it on during the street.

This will go behind my factory bumper with hooks going through, I may leave the GM tow hooks on as well, not sure yet. What do you guys think?

I keep looking in this thread to check on progress and keep wondering one thing. You're spending all this time and money to link the front end, what are you going to do with the rear, leave the leaf springs in it?

I haven't read over the entire thread to see if it's in here somewhere, it's way too long to do that.

He need to get this truck moving first. Then he could change the rear. He has enough trouble staying focused on one part of this build at a time.:doah:
