Found a shop to bend the tube for the 2nd half of the hoops. 1.75 .120 wall Dom going to sleve it onto the Ord hoops with Dom. Paying 80 dollars.:dunno:

Here is the pictures of the 2nd leg of the hoop and the sleeve pieces. They cut it extra long and didn't charge me so I got extra scraps to learn to weld on.

For this weekend I hope to get the hoops tacked in and the xj steering shaft in as well if I have extra time I'll see if I can get the frame plates started.

I want to sleeve the tubes and plug weld it, how far apart should my plugs be and how big of a hole? Yes I will be doing the welding I figure as long as I have plenty of heat going in who cares what it looks like I'm going to grind it down anyway. Is that ok?

Yes where the tubes meet I'll do a chamfer on both tubes then weld around it joining with the sleeve and also plug welding it. I'm going for overkill but I want it done right.

Then if i was you, i would do about a 1/2" hole, approx 2" from the ends of the sleeve tube. And do two on each side for a total of 4 plug welds. Thats just what i would do. Hopefully Wade will check in and tell you the right way.

I was thinking about 4 plug welds on each side of the chamfer and staggering 2 from the other 2. Hopefully that makes sense. I bought a step drill bit on my way home, hopefully it works never used one.

I'm pretty sure I have some 1.5" .120 wall if you need it. That's what you need to slip inside the 1.75" .120 wall.

But did it make sense to you? Told them I wanted it to slip inside the hoop.

I got some 1.5x.25 tubing left over from the first drag link. Mmmmm beef it's what's for dinner.

I know what you meant to say. It's just worded weird. Plus I knew what you wanted, they may not have and just heard od and thought ok here you go....

Ah I see now. I saw your tube and just thought you planned on the over sleeve. That's why I didn't care much about how you plug welded!
