XJ shaft install went good, broke the dust cover will that be a problem?

At first it was a pain to split so I did it with the cherry picker.

Now here is the installed shot.

Knowing my luck it would hit. Started on the hoops and got pulled away, ran out of time and meeting with some family and friends. Off to the batting cages, first softball game is Friday.

I don't know how you guys hold this stuff up and get it level by yourself. Any tips are appreciated it keeps falling and making me mad.

Lol I try that sometimes. Hold it up close my eyes pull the trigger. if it's writhin a 1/16-1/8th I just go with it. Surprisingly it works out most if the time.

Finally read this entire build. Wowzers you got a lot to do. I thought I was over thinking my suspension mods half way through your whole show changed. At least you have had some good humor in and about it.

I got a buddy that has a set of these , if my next creation doesn't work and these do I'll copy the bends and have it done soon.

Looks like much smaller tube then 1.75 so maybe it will be fine if I go .250 wall? I know this is way off course but I want to have another back up plan.

Dude, that setup wont work for you! He has no brake booster so the master cylinder is a good 6-8" closer to the fire wall, and he has no A/C. You could run just about any hoop you could ever dream of with that much clearance.

.250" wall doesn't belong in any cage setup in anything vaguely resembling a light duty truck. I try to use thinner than .120" any time I can, diameter is the big winner.

Don't consider thicker than .120" on anything you do.

Really? I thought if it was smaller and thicker then 120 wall it would compensate and equal out in strength?
is it wrong to think thicker the tube the stronger it is? I'm bit confused on your post as to why.

Chris is correct. The strength that 1/4 wall adds is minimal for your application compared to the added weight. For the spuds to connect the tubing, it would be OK.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I agree now and understand.


Hopefully I can get over to the truck a little after work each day before Friday(my day off) and get started on the hoops. Even if it is just measuring and saving it for a cut, progress is progress.
