I'm tempted to buy a cooler with a electric fan. Even though the 4l60 is built I still want to cool it.
I run a b&m stacked plate cooler with an electric fan. Hp and go fast make trannys HOT.
Do they tend to run hotter than a heavier duty auto would?
I always called it "chasing rabbits" but the premise is the same.

Ryoken, how do you figure?

That does bring up a point on fluid which to go with. I do get a discount on gm brand fluid.

I run RP because its pretty![]()
just a rib jab to keep you focused on getting the rig done...![]()
Look at a quality synthetic oil. We run the amsoil slick shift because it has modifiers in it that make it pretty sticky. It's a full on race fluid and handles heat really well.
I would guess that the GM synthetic dexron 6 is good stuff. Ironically from what I have heard they have come so far with transmission control and materials that they are now making trans fluid slippery so that the shifts aren't as harsh because they have such good line pressure control with computers.
We try to get them to shift and engage firmer and the fluid guys have to make fluid that makes them slip![]()
