Lol, I got the day off tomorrow and will be working on it. We will see what happens.

The exterra gets 14mpg with the cruise set at 60, I would have only been over for a few hours and the drive is 35 mins.

Awesome !

See you next week, and I'll pick the new 14 bolt up tomorrow and get started with prepping it for spring perches :thumb:

I be back in town Monday, we should do a night next week.

Usually I'm one to say just get it on the road like Brandon is saying, butttt.... To run 56's isn't the age old routine to just swap the flip brackets from one side to the other and run 6" shackles? If it were me, I go to the local pick-n-pull and get some 56" springs out of a late 80's 3/4t burb and throw them in with the flip brackets swapped around.

I'm pretty sure this is what a buddy of mine did and he raved about how much better the ride was in his 78 1/2ton pickup.

I know this will work with 54s but I don't know about 56s. :dunno: You probably know better than I do though. If it does work, I may try it one day myself.

it works
flip brackets around backwards, run longer 6" shackle, and bolt in. Done and WAY better. Only after researching like crazy on here, did I make that switch. For a go fast duner or desert truck, 56s installed with a factory shackle set up would be best, but that means moving the bracket farther back on the frame. Still worth it. 63s would be even better but Ben is worried about having to move the front frame mount and his saddle tanks.

Sweet. I figured you would have to move the front spring bracket a little to get a good shackle angle. After doing this swap, are you back wheels centered in the wheel well openings? Any wheel hop when you get on the gas?

Sorry to hijack, but this thread is already about as long as the Epic of Gilgamesh anyway. CK5 just had to buy a new server just to store all the information in this one thread. It's probably a terabyte by now. At least.

:haha: just woke up, surprised I slept that long. I'll be heading over shortly.

57" ford rear is a good option over 63" if you dont want to ditch the saddle tanks

Thought about those, Adam got close to 12 inches of travel out of them. I'm looking for close to 14 to match the front. I think my best bet is to use the 52's I have now then order a set of Ord's

:waytogo:

It's moving in the right direction now. I've always liked the way those tires look since they came out with them.

Sweet! Looks cool! Now you can cycle some more! Lol

Also, personally, I would get some 56's from late 80s half ton burb and run them with a chuckle flip. I think that will give a good compromise all around. Won't be too expensive, still be fairly stable, still be fairly flexible, won't take much time, etc. But, it's also something that would be extremely easy to do later down the road.

 :woot: this makes for a happy Ben moment.:pimp:

This pic is also for the haters that said I couldn't build a 4 link sense I couldn't figure out leaf springs. :flipoff7:
