Thank you Scott. The front has 5.8 inches of bump travel the rest droop, if I can match that I'll be pleased. It sounds easily done.

I know it will drag out your project but watch out for the custom leaf math when you put good shocks on it.
good leaves + shackles and bushings + traction bars + good shocks sometimes equals same money or close to the same money as coilovers in the back.

Leaves seem really cool and can work pretty good but the cost and availability of good link parts these days makes them not as awesome, especially if you buy a 2.5" remote res. King shock for both systems.

I hear you guys have a kit but information is very thin. I'm hoping to figure this out during the weekend and give you a call.

I put both front and rear ORD 4" lift springs on my K5. They are stock length in the stock position. Stephen set them up for a GVW of 5860 lbs. (3300 lbs. front and 2560 lbs. rear). The fronts have about 5 inches of bump travel and the rears have 6-7 inches. I put the ORD 6" super shackles on the rear without a shackle flip. Shims were needed to get the correct pinion angle (in otherwords, I was too lazy to cut the spring perches and rotate the axle).

My rig is a crawler. The ride is good on dirt roads and bumpy arroyos and the flex is great. But, I do need some better shocks to tame the springs at higher speeds. However, with the TBI 350, SM465, doubler, and 37 inch tires; a traction/anti-wrap bar for the rear was a MUST. I did one trail run without it, and I am totally suprised that I did not destroy the rear u-joint/yolks due to the amount of wrap (I about pooed my pants when I saw the rub marks on the yolks :eek1:).

I'm afraid so.:doah:

It is. My fear is that again, baba forgets how much of a not big deal it is to do more mods later. And for me, if I had a finished truck, and he wants his "done", I would be bored out of my mind. Continuing mods is fun. Doing stock Springs now and something different in a year or two would be welcome in my book.

This ^^^

There's no such thing as a finished project.

As far as major work, my truck is finished and I'm honestly getting bored with it. I'm basically toying with odds and ends to keep my interest. Get the truck out of the garage and see how it works for you.

I'm giving the 56's a shot but like I said I want it to work like the front and these won't do it. The truck will he used to do what ever I want to toss it at. But what's the point of having 14 inches of travel in the front if the rear won't keep up.

This weekend I should be able to cycle the springs with the axle and get a exact figure and be able to determine what it really needs for my ultimate goal.

Whats the point of having a truck if it spends its life sitting in the garage waiting on more fab and parts rather then using it.

For me personally i dont know how some of you guys on here do it the 2,3,5 + year builds that seem to never have an end. The reason i have a blazer is cause i want to use it. Even of it doesnt have my "Dream" set up. I still have more fun then i should with how it is.

Get it streetable. And then coninue mods if it needs it.

My .02

It's taking so long cause I don't want to half ass it and my skills had to improve rather then just bolting on stuff and going. I wanted to live my dream and didn't care how long it took.

I concur. And you may find that you like using the truck enough that you never want those extra mods after all (this is what happened to me when I got my truck running).

But it's much harder to enjoy looking at a non-functioning pile of parts in the garage. Get it going, and then you'll be able to figure out what you really want to add to the truck (modification-wise).

That's great, as long as building your truck is the dream. But if using the truck is your dream, the build time is subtracting from that.

Neither way is wrong, it's totally up to you what you wanna focus on. I just wanna make sure that the dream is being lived. :thumb:

I can stare at this thing in the garrage and be happy. I look at what I have done and sense a great feeling of accomplishment.
