Waiting on a new ecm to come, we think the trans didn't completely take the tune. No worries I'll be back up in a few days.

Anyone have any luck with vinyl wrapping? Is it durable on mall crawlers? I see expensive cars with them, so it can't look that bad.

It runs and drives just the trans won't shift and it feels like the converter is locking up. I can get it to shift but it's a lot of monkeying with the shifter and sometimes the rpm's raise around 4k. I'm trying to be easy on the engine until then. Just playing it safe.

My nephews were over today for a late Christmas and I ran it up the street. Started in 1st and when 2nd was needed I up shifted, let off the pedal then hit it and felt like neutral. The other day it was down shifting and banging hard. It's very odd and makes no sense, we think the programming just didn't fully take.

Team208motorsports has very excellent customer service and has gone above what I expected. Has answered every question and walked me through even the first start!!
 
ha, I have one coming from him too. Can't believe the customer service he provides. We have been going back and forth on some fine tuning and he is just sending me another PCM to swap out. Awesome.

My cousins truck is vinyl wrapped. It looks pretty decent other than very up close there are some seams, but that's a really bubbly truck and I image our rigs would be much easier to look good up close too.

We did a wrap on ORD's Wally and miniwally (the race car). They held up reasonably well.

Wraps aren't cheap. Depending on what you want could be upwards of $3000. If you want no seams and no hint of the color underneath, the price really goes up. Plus covering the roof isn't part of a typical install so that will add to the cost.

Keep in mind a wrap won't hide anything. Any dings or chipped paint will be evident as the vinyl will lay down tight to all the ridges and bumps.

Despite what some might claim, 5yrs is the life span. Especially in AZ with the sun exposure and dry air. Horizontal surfaces like hood will last less that 5yrs. Only exception would be if the vehicle is in the garage most the time. The UV is what kills it. They make waxes for wrap materials that wiil help some with longevity.

And then there's the removal. If you have it on there 5yrs or more then it's really going to be "fun" to remove.

I wouldn't bother with vinyl wraps.

If you want a good end result, you still need nice smooth bodywork everywhere...so if you take it THAT far, you'd be better off painting it since it will last for years and years. Vinyl is good for race cars or exotics where it is just temporary anyway, and the cost isn't much of a factor.
