You're on the right track now. First trans was just a shit chance getting a bad converter. Second one was cutting corners. Take your time and do this one well, it'll turn out ok.

While I've got a 700 with my 5.3 swap, I'd go with the 4l60 since you are already set up for it. More money for the tv cable kit and going backwards with the lack of tuning like you can with the 4l60. Besides, it's another crapshoot if the 700r4 was actually built right or will shell out on you again (no offense if the person that built it was offering it up earlier). Save the dough and build the one you got right.

Last year I barely made the bash with bare bones. This year I want to show up with a more presentable truck with some features.

what length rear springs do you run?
I'll spray it with a paint gun but would like to budget around 1000 to 1500
I have a 56 inch pack, but would like something with more travel and a tension shackle instead of the shackle flip. Ideal would be to get around 14 inches of travel and retain the bed space for camping and expeditionary trips.
I has a plan for that but would need to draw it up to show my idea, it requires rework of the wheel well to go high with tube work and a removable cross bar for sleeping and non wheeling.

Some of that makes sense but most of those lead to other things. I have a aluminum drag link and pan hard. Just so it matches. The hitch cause of a removable winch and hauling the boat. We move into the house in a month and I can't wait for shop time.
And as far as the ass, I'll tell her Jack says hi....
Can't wait to sip Jack again around the truck like last year.
