This is just piss poor. This actually was the first thing I checked this AM while making coffee for the lady and leaving for work. I was much hoping for a broken r case.

It's pulled apart and sitting on the floor, went over it with blazinzuk and all seems good, I think what I was feeling was the chain.

He seems to think it's not trans and possibly a diff problem which I agree, I have been thinking that sense the start. The fact it locked up then rolled away under power, then up and down a trailer then into the garage is weird.

Didn't you already look through the diff? :dunno:

It is kinda what it sounds like though, I have heard of diffs starting to fall apart, and they alternate between working and not working for a short time before they give up the ghost.

That's usually chunks of bearings or ring/pinion teeth getting caught between said ring and pinion. Alternating between grinding it up and picking up more of it due to the way it slings oil. In reverse it actually won't happen as often. Assuming that's what it in fact is.

It just clicked in my head... After thinking about how it all went down my guess is either a toasted pinion bearing or a loose yoke on the diff. When the diff is under power it will hold the pinion "in place" but as soon as you let out of the throttle the pinion will try to fall into the diff and it will lock up. At least you have peace of mind that the t-case is ok but I feel bad that you went through more work than needed.

Have to do the hubs on the trailer tonight to take it to the welder then I will get go.everything unclog toilets and inspect the diff better.

Yes it has a g80

I thought the 14b g80s were pretty reliable? Especially the later year ones. That said nothing is infallible but I wouldn't jump to conclusions

Ben I didn't realize it was a g80 I'm pretty confident that's your issue. It makes even more sense now. You said diff oil was clean. No chunks of anything or really shiny. That's signature gov bomb. They have some idiotically small bits that can screw stuff up. But will not escape the pretty much enclosed carrier
