I bet the "diff " problem when it locked up was the trans letting go.

When I pulled the g80 apart I did see some wear but not a ton, I think the trans locked up and grenaded.

Yeah. I had just barely gotten my parts together for my tranny swap on one truck when the tranny failed on the second one.
Baba isn't allowed near my trucks anymore.
I have never had a engine or trans failure until I built this truck. I had thought I purchased quality the first time.
I hope you never take us serious... We are just jerks and you're an easy target.
One of my 4l60's did that, loud bang, and grinding to a quick stop. Sun shell broke and locked it up, had to winch the truck further and it made some god awful noises. They couldn't get it all apart. I have what's left somewhere in the garage.

Yes. You shouldn't doubt what we are capable of.
In my head this is just crazy... I would expect something like this when you're hammering on it but not so much at speed...

I believe the problem came from the converter, but not sure, I was accerating like normal, truck shifted into third, rpms jumped I immediately let off of the throttle and slammed back into gear, the whole event was 3-5 seconds of time. Commence bang and locked up trans.
Sounds like what happened to me, same thing but I was in 4th let off and Babaganuked it

I will say that trans never did stay together again. Most times lasted about 40 miles, loud bang, and sometimes it locked other times it didn't, included them claiming they replaced the case. The last time they touched it it lasted 350 miles or so before losing overdrive. It was replaced with used trans from a yard and never heard from the guy again.
But the shop did the trans 4-5 times if I recall
No racing for me today, which is fine I'm still in the pits helping!
What a epic race in the pits this was. We didn't finish came 5 miles short. Had multiple issues. If anyone is interested I'll do a trip report.
Builder has the trans, took a peek into it and said looks like I Babaganuked the Sprag but will call me tomorrow will an analysis. We talked about a 4l80e said if I keep blowing them up like this it might be the answer but we both agreed the built 4l60e should handle it just fine.
