Ehhh I went over to my buddys house we drove around in his hybusa mini rail and I feel much better. Nothing like watching off-road tires get taller on the street....

Looks like this.

I think I found out why the pan is overfilling then coming out the hole and filling the extension housing. My transmission cooler is higher then the trans and it's draining back. Can I put it a check valve to make this stop?

The problem isn't that fluid is in that portion of the housing, the problem is the case sections weren't / aren't sealed good enough. Hence why I said to smear a bit of Rtv on the mating surfaces...

leaks are cool. It helps slide across rocks and such. Jk... keep up the good work dude. Don’t get discouraged like me! I’m learning from your little problems too. I had no idea that there was the potential for fluid to be in there!

I had this same problem with my 4l60e. I spent a bunch of time and research looking for a problem that didn't exist.

Like they said, better seal between the case and tranny will solve it.

Going back to this... What a goofy design, what did your research tell you why it was made?

I never got any sure answer, but I'm guessing that the fluid needs to lube the output shaft and bearing, so it's supposed to leak into that cavity and just relies on the gasket to keep it from leaking out. There is a hole for it to drain back into the transmission if I recall correctly (assuming it can't get out through the transfer case gasket).

Yeah it oils the output on slosh, good seals. Leave it alone

8 months is about the right amount of time. Just be done before September 5th.
