Just realized with this new bracket it flips the supercharger around spinning it differently. :doah: How is this going to work now?

@folkenheath
You have to be more specific. Is the pulley still in front of it? Or did the pulled get put behind it somehow? The compressor wheel is directional so it can't spin the opposite direction, but you can rotate the inlet while still spinning it the correct direction.

Here is the current bracket that isn’t going to work with the air filter facing forward to the grille. The new bracket has the air filter facing towards the rear of the truck.

Then I would say no, you would need a different housing and also maybe a different impeller wheel. Or a an idler gear of some sort to reverse it.

I think you need to call Vortec.

Another option is to run it off the flat side of the belt like the water pump, but that is unlikely and probably wouldn't have enough grip.

Turn the supercharger wheel and see. As it sits now when the belt rotates the pulley clockwise (as seen from the front of the engine looking back), then that impeller should spin counterclockwise, pulling air in and forcing it out on the left. If you spin the impeller the opposite way, that won't work. But then your new bracket would work.

That is what I was thinking, I'm to the point I don't know what to do.

I'm going to cancel the order with summit.

Turn the pulley first to confirm this.

Though I am guessing that is the case if the supercharger has one set of gears that reverse the impeller direction from the pulley direction.

Are you sure the new bracket reverses it?

Yes the outlet on the unit in the instructions goes the other way from the unit you have.

New new bracket would be correct. I don't believe your current one would work.

Unless your gear box on it makes the impeller spin the other way, it's going to spin the wrong direction currently IMG_3228~2.jpeg
In the diagram in the instructions, follow the belt direction, and it turns the pulley the same direction as the crank when facing the front. So should have it going the right way from what I'm seeing.

That is, if the pulley and impeller spin the same direction anyway.

I mounted it the same way the previous owner had it and I saw videos of the truck running with it.

I would assume it was spinning the correct direction.

There is gearing, the impeller usually spins the opposite way. Look at most of the factory installs.

He can confirm that by spinning it by hand and watching the direction.

I think i'm going to take the bracket I have and utilize all the pieces and make a new plate to extend the supercharger out enough so I can put the air filter on the side of the radiator.

How much room do you have?
Can you use one of these and put a tube out towards the passenger fender for your filter.?
This is rubber and would go right over the SC inlet.
